Another introduction! 1 Attachment(s) My name is Pam and I am an expectant Mommy. That is- I am expecting my little Yorkie girl in about a week or so. We actually purchased her about 3 weeks ago and we are waiting for the ok from the breeder to bring her to her new home! She was 9 weeks old last Thursday and weighs 24 ounces. We can not wait. I have obsessed over the perfect name and finally settled for Miss Vada (from My Girl) Zoe. We will call her Zoe. I have been reading up everything that I can find on Yorkies. I have ALWAYS wanted a Yorkie and now that my children are grown she is going to be my baby. I have already done shopping for supplies and have more to do in preparation for her arrival. I am a professional photographer (expect lots of photos when she comes home!) and she will go to my studio with me during working hours. I am also a registered nurse (Labor & Delivery). I think that I want to train her to one of the articifial grass potty systems. Trying to decide between the Potty Patch or the Rascal. Love reading all of the threads her at YT. Crate, play pen, sling, carrier. Decisions! So confused as to which are essential or highly recommended. Do I want her in a crate traveling back and forth? Can I confine her with a baby gate rather than a play yard? Do you use a sling?? Thanks for reading and offering such an awesome forum! |
What a beautiful baby! I am so happy for you!!!! We are also waiting on a puppy to join our family next weekend. We already have Princess Lulu, and the new puppy, Trezi, will be 12 weeks old next week and should be ready to come to his forever home on the weekend. So I understand the anxiousness ;) Can't wait to see the photos you gonna take of your furbaby. I love taking photos of mine (kinda obsessed with it), though I use my iPhone and not any professional photo equipment. Doesn't give me any shutter/aperture control at all, but it's on me all the time and I can pull it out of my pocket when the opportunity arrives :D You gonna have so much fun.....:aimeeyork |
She is beautiful! Babies are so much fun. :D |
I just wanted to congratulate you on your gorgeous girl and say welcome!! I bring home my little fella Bailey this Friday, and am super anxious as well :) |
Ok I'm running all around the house with my laptop in hand to show my kids your super cute baby. Love her little face. She will take beautiful pictures. Can't wait!! Congratulations |
Thanks everyone. I fell in love with her little face too!!! There were two little girls to chose from in the litter and it was so hard! I had to choose from pictures since she is about 5 hours away and can't wait to bring her home! I have been reading posts all day today trying to soak in all of the great info. Did a little shopping too! |
Hi Pam, Your little girl is just beautiful! If you've never had a Yorkie, you'll fall in love with her very quickly.Calleigh is my first Yorkie and I'd never have any other breed. The waiting is so hard. You just want to have her with you now. I know the feeling. The one thing I didn't think about was the fact that she was a "baby" and needs lot of care just as skin babies do. I'm retired and I had forgotten babies need lots of attention. You sound like you're more than ready to bring her home. You don't have to have all the answers right now either. You'll learn as you go along too. YT is a wonderful place to come with questions or if you just want to talk. I wish I had knowne about it before I got my pup. Everyone has been so wonderful here. You're never alone. Good luck. I love pictures too. Can't wait to see more. |
Congratulations!! She has such a darling little face! I can't wait to see pics as she grows up! :) Welcome both of you to YT!! |
Welcome to YT! She is absolutely gorgeous! I'm not sure if crating her while driving back and forth to work is necessary. I've never crated my pup when driving short or long distances, but I didn't get her until she was nine months old, so it may be a little different. To keep herself safe, though, she likes to lay between my neck and the seat. That way she doesn't tumble if I have to quickly brake. Of course I did crate train her when leaving her at home. Now I leave her in a larger metal-covered-with-black-rubber-stuff cage when leaving her at home because I can trust her not to potty in it. I did try the baby gate when I first got her, but it didn't work for her at all. I tried to keep her in the kitchen, but when I would come back home from work, she would manage to knock it down completely and had run rampant around the apartment chewing/eating everything. It would probably really depend on the temperament of your pup. I don't use a sling, but I've read how some members here really like them. If you have to carry your baby around a lot but also need your hands to be free, then it might be something worth getting. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! Hopefully someone with tons and tons of experience will give their advice! :) |
Welcome... Your baby is just Adorable! I am new here also, just trying to find my way. Good luck with your new little one. |
Thanks everyone!! I am so glad that I found YT when I did. So much helpful info!!! I know exactly where to go if I have any questions!!! I already love it here!! I have NEVER had a Yorkie but ALWAYS wanted one. Just figured out in the last several months that it was time. :) Just like a first time new mommy I want everything to be right and to do the best job that I can and I am NERVOUS!! Isn't that crazy?? You worry about everything how to potty train her. How to travel with her. The list goes on!!! Thanks for all of the support! |
Such a little cutie pie:)Sounds like you are more than ready for her arrival! That's awesome. Can't wait to see more pics of her:) |
