Gracie's Birthday Party -- Cake from Publix!
 

We had Gracie's party today--what fun! Check out the cake! We gave Publix pictures and asked them to make their "shaggy dog" cake look like Gracie. Everyone thought it was adorable and tasted great too!

We had 14 humans (10 adults) and 4 dogs..plus the 2 of us. The dogs included a beagle, Shi Tsui (Gracie's BFF), miniature poodle and Norwich terrier. They all got Lick-a-lots frozen snacks plus a "cheesy" dog treat (looks like a cookie with a paw imprint!) They all got along very well and Gracie loved it! She also got lots of gifts....treats, toys, etc.

A year ago, I never would have believed it if someone told me I'd be hosting a "doggy birhtday party"! But what a hoot! We all stood around and watched the dogs while we ate, talked and watched the football games.

OMG how cute@!! what a great idea & publix cakes are so YUMMY! :p i can't wait to start having parties for my babies. i know when we move back to california i'm going to have to find the place where they make cakes for dogs :)

That cake is darling. We don't have a Publix here. I have never heard of it until now. That cake makes me want to go to "Publix" whatever it is!!! :D

For those of you up North and out West, Publix is a Grocery chain that originated in FL, I think. They and Kroger are the major chains here in the Atlanta area. Publix is known for their bakery and run ads about it.

I'm not sure I'd do this for every birthday, but her first seemed so special. Seems like so many of our little ones have issues their first year that it is a major accomplishment to get them to the 1 year mark.

That and recognizing the difference she has made in our lives. We have been through a lot of issues with my husband's health the past year, and having Gracie has been a real blessing. Just today I walked into the room to see him with a faint smile on his face...and realized it was because he was holding Gracie in his arms! She was snuggled down all comfortable. (We have workers in the house redoing our Bathroom shower and he grabbed her because the door was open.).:angel:

So, here's to Gracie! Over half the people at the party we didn't know a year ago, or hadn't talked to in years (mostly neighbors we have connected with on our daily walks with Gracie). Who knew our lives could be fuller and richer by adding a 5.5 lb dog!:aimeeyork
