Shelby's newest 'accessory'.... 2 Attachment(s) My poor lil girl.... so I still cant figure out what is going on with my baby.... our groomer mentioned that Shelby's licking and gnawing at her side could just be a 'nervous habit'.... why didnt my vet think of this?? Shelbys blood work and physicals and check ups have all been NORMAL.... why wouldnt the vet have suggested that this could just be a habitual 'thing'.... anyhow, we figured the only way to see if the 'spot' would get better was to get her a 'CONE'.... I feel so bad for her she obviously hates it but that's all I could do to help stop her from gnawing her leg away! Anyway, I have attached a couple pics of my lil girl with her 'new accessory' I tried to make it look as pretty as possible, lol.... |
Aww, poor baby. I hope the cone helps! |
aww poor baby. Hopefully it will help her. |
2 Attachment(s) thank you! yes Im hoping it will help too.... those pics were taken yesterday and was her first day with it on.... she's a little more comfortable with it now .... im still really annoyed that my vet didnt even think to suggest getting one of these, my groomer is the one that suggested it.... so I bought her a nice one, lol.... so it wouldnt look too bad :p here a couple pics from today. The first one is of her almost wanting to smile, lol and the second one shows where she has been gnawing on her leg near her rear.... looks worse in person, but you can see wheres shes been goin at it. |
Aww poor thing! Are the sure she's not having leg or hip pain? Sammy chewed on her knees all the time before she had her LP knee surgery. I hope she feels better! |

Poor baby. I think they make those cones in a softer material. Have you tried the pajama's with legs in them to see if she will stop biting. Maybe a specialist (dermatologist could help figure out what is causing it. |
Just curious, has your vet checked her anal glands recently? Mayzie did this very thing on both sides and she was even chewing/licking her paws bare-in fact. Here her anal glands were blocked. Just a thought. I never knew that they would chew/lick like that due to anal gland discomfort bit she did. We had to go back for several visits and he put her on some medication (can't remember what now) and also gave me some spray for her feet. She got over it and all her hair grew back and she has never done it again. Poor baby. |

as for the softer material cones, where can I find them? this one has a "comfort ring" around the part that goes around her neck [its soft], but the cone itself is plastic. and the pajamas with the legs, I honestly cant find any that fit her 'right'.... she has a few pajamas and they either fit her loose or tight, XS is loose so she trips over the leggs and i roll them up but her legs come out! and the XXS are too small .... |
is she on a allergy food ? what is the Groomer using to bath her with? |
awww cute :) I like how you decorated her vet collar. Poor puppy |
maybe she was bitten by something and couldn't leave it alone. this can cause a cycle of chewing/licking behaviour because when they mess with it it becomes worse. so they chew and lick to make it better. and that makes it worse!! i hope now that she can't get to the spot it heals/gets better fast!! ps--i love that you decorated the cone. |
