How big will my puppy be? 2 Attachment(s) My new puppy Daisy weighed 3 pounds 4 ounces at 10 weeks. I looked on the chart and saw that she is totally off the chart for size. So I thought she might be about 8 pounds. I talked to the breeder and she said she would be surprised if she were that big since her mom weighs 6 pounds and her father 4 pounds. She was one of the bigger puppies in the litter, but I chose her for her brave, friendly and calm personality rather than for size and color. I wondered if any of you have had a dog that weighed this much at this age and how big they got?? Beth Miller |
Genetics goes back further than just the parents. A rule of thumb is to double their weight at 12 weeks...but it's a guess too. My Ramsey weighed close....and now she's weighs 11 pounds. |
Oh my she is adorable. Look at that face! Congratulations on your new puppy. I would guess her to be around 8lbs also. That's a great size. Still small enough to take everywhere. I think they (who ever they are) say to double the weight around 12 wks and add 1lb. You can't really go by the size of the parents lot's of times. Sometime the runt becomes the largest when full grown. Small parents have been know to have a large puppy in the end. Enjoy and good luck with this adorable baby girl. |
Bigger is better... or at least that is what I say... :) My Alfie was the same weight at 10weeks and his parents were 6 and 5lbs each... he is about 8.5 now and he is 4months... Not sure if you can tell really what thy will end up being but I know Alfie is a big boy to me.. and I love it, he may get to be about 10lbs or so I think... |
Oops I forgot to say.... SHE IS ADORABLE!!! The first picture is so cute... what a pretty girl!:p |
at 10 weeks, you can 2 1/2 times their weight, which would put her around 13 lbs. but, then again, she could slow down with her growing. |
