Eddie REFUSES to get rid of his toys

Dog toys are threatening to overrun the house, so today I decided to sort through the THREE containers of them that have been cluttering up the living room. All the rubber toys that they don't play with are getting washed and sterilized and sent to a shelter. Another big bag of demolished toys will go in the trash.

Well, that's the plan. Eddie is throwing a fit. First, he wanted up on the sink to see WTH I was doing with the rubber toys. He barked relentlessly until I gave in, then he stuck his nose in the sudsy water. After that, he dove headfirst into the bag of what amounts to rags and made off with a couple of old favorites.

Now my wife, a hoarder in her own right, wants to go through everything I'm planning on getting rid of. I can't win.

Here's the evidence.

Poor deprived Eddie. :D Reminds me of a little boy I used to baby sit who had like 20 pacifiers for some reason. One day mum decided it was time to clear em all out and we made a ritual of throwing them away to make him a "big boy" -- poor kiddo then went through the trash bins for days in search of his binkies, which would surely in the dumpster by then.

Hope he's not used to sticking his head in plastic bags though! :eek:

what a typical guy! perhaps he could keep his toys in the garage or maybe the shed? you never know....someday he might need them.

Eddie is too funny! That made my day. I've got a furbutt that doesn't want anyone "messing " with his toys let alone share. LOL:animal-pa

Brady is the same way with his toys. He drags 4 or 5 up to the bedroom at night and then drags them down in the morning.

Remember....

One mans trash is another mans treasure!

You are an awesome dad, but since this is Eddie's trash vs.treasure, it is only right that he play an active part in these decisions!! Can you imagine what of yours he might throw away given the opportunity???

He is way too cute!!! How in the heck do you always have the camera in the right place at the right time???

Poor little Eddie - my question, Mike, is .... how would you feel if Eddie and your dear wifey went through YOUR stuff and started throwing your treasures away..... :confused::confused::confused:

The pictures are fantastic, and so typically Yorkie. Hurry Eddie get your stuff back before Daddy gets the sack in the car.

I can't BELIEVE all of your are on Eddie's side. He's been relentless all day. The toys I'm proposing to give to the shelter are toys he hasn't played with in more than a year. But he's throwing a fit. He's no longer happy with his favorite toys. He wants the old ones that I'm trying to get rid of.

As for the handy camera, remember, I don't have a life beyond my Yorkies (and work). I ALWAYS have the camera handy when the boys are up to their antics.

That's so funny, poor guy!

Toys are all over our house and they never play with most of them, but as soon as you gather them up and put them in the toy box, they drag them all out again!

Now, now. I'm not taking sides - at least I wasn't until I read your reply. I was merely suggesting that you look at it from a slightly different angle. Perhaps one a little lower to the ground. And just out of curiousity, exactly how did his old toys get to be in such bad shape? Because they WERE his favorites? He probably feels like it is reunion with old buddies time, and are you jumping in to join the party? Heck no - you are trying to break it up! As for the shelter toys - they smell so clean and new - what boy could pass up the temptation to break them in again and put his scent all over them??? And another thing - why is poor little Eddie having to throw a fit? Could it be that his dad isn't listening to him unless he does? It sounds to me like he is trying to communicate and someone isn't listening very well! :eek: Hang tough Eddie. Be strong.
