my friend want buy teacup yorkie weight 1.2kg. now 1 years. what do you think about this?

Over here we frown upon those breeders that use the word teacup, the Yorkshire Terrier Club of American forbids its breeders from using the word "teacup" when describing their Yorkies, however many people do sell Yorkies that are under 4 pounds. This little girl looks like a real cutie, but a dog under four pounds does have more health risks. What would that be in pounds by the way about 2 1/2 pounds? I never recommend anyone buying a dog by size alone, or even by looks alone. I think it's important to know if the breeder does health testing. I do think she's beautiful.

She is small and BEA-UTIFUL :)

:thumbup: I agree. She is beautiful, but I'd beware about the breeder using the word "teacup". 9 times out of 10 breeders use this word as a money making scheme.

:thumbup: It's something they use to charge extra money for what they promise will be a very small dog. It's a ripoff, and you could end up with thousands of dollars in veterinary bills. Don't fall for this. And if you don't believe us, check out the "Bad Breeder" page and read all the sad stories of those who have bought these tiny - and very sick - dogs.

I don't know if many of you have noticed, but the OP is from China, if they are using the word "teacup" now, I think we might be fighting a losing battle.

at china anypeople like teacup yorkie adult under 1.5kg. cos doll face, sweet face. coat very fast to the floor. no hear teacup yorkie have problem. i recommend my friend buy standard yorkie, but my friend like yorkie doll face, sweet face. coat very fast to the floor, my breeder tell me teacup yorkie coat not good, altough very fast grow to the floor.really?

Over here there is no teacup classifcation. Just standard, and thats 7 pounds and below. Some breeders who are just in it for the money, say their dogs are teacups, but this has no meaning, maybe the dogs are small, maybe not. Coat texture has nothing to do with the size of the dog, but those breeders offering teacups, seldom have silky coats.

If the coat grows very fast it's probably not a silk coat. If you focus on size many other things go bad, coat, structure, movement...

The puppy looks nice, just be very cautious, when you buy for size.

"Teacups" are no different than standard size. Their faces aren't any sweeter and their hair doesn't grow any faster. They are a yorkie just like the rest of them and they all will be different.

It's a beautiful dog... I'd tell your friend to get the dog if that's what he/she
wants. Alot of people prefer the smaller yorkies and I don't think there is
anything wrong with that (to me... teacup is just a word meaning small). ;)

You basically summed up my thoughts.

Beware if there are OTHER red flags or if the word teacup is soely a marketing ploy, but this dog appears VERY well bred and cared for.
