Pictures of Toby We just got him last night from a puppymill and he's soooo scared it breaks my heart. DH and I are trying to show him love and holding him constantly..but he's still skidish right now. Any suggestions? He hasn't eaten or drank anything, or went potty yet. He ate a few pieces of grass outside today but that's it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...l/CIMG0104.jpg Crunchy wanting to play with him! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...l/CIMG0102.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...l/CIMG0101.jpg My husband and Toby http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...l/CIMG0103.jpg |
Oh my goodness, I don't have any advice except to be very patient. But I do want to say congrats on recuing a puppymill baby. With time you will be his best friend, his hero, and his lifesaver! Welcome to YT by the way.. |
Welcome to YT and Toby is adorable. |
Hey Amy, You already know this since we've takled and I got Trixie from there too.. she was like this too the whole first day or so.. yesturday she started eating and actually went potty.. today she is doing better but still a bit skiddish. I feel soo sorry for these babies and the rest that are there! :( I hope he comes around soon -- just keep trying to feed him and offer him love and comfort like yall have been! Be patient girlie and know you are giving him the best that you can! Bless their hearts! Ps--did she give you a can of food that they *use* and a starter kit of their current dog food to switch them over on if you plan on switching? |
You guys are soooooo awesome for taking puppy mill rescues!! You have my total respect! Toby is so cute! I guess it just takes extra love and patience. Please keep us posted on how things are going! |

Toby Is So Cute |
Welcome to YT Congrats to both of you on your new babies, my Kiko is a puppymill rescued puppy too. I'm kinda going through some of the same things. Like if I get close to him and put my hands out to pick him up he cowers and stumbles backwards, he's afraid of new people and sometimes when he sleeps he has nightmares and you can see him whimpering and shaking. It's so sad. For the most part he's a happy little guy that spends most of his day playing eating and pooping. I'm hoping these sad things will go away with time. Oh and welcome to YT it's great here! |
Welcome to YT! Just have patience and before you know it, you have a good companion. |
Ph, he's so sweet! Time and love will take care of that. Once he knows he's home and it's forever he'll just relax and love you back. What a nice thing to do. |
Toby is a little Doll... He will settle in no time... all he needed was the love that you are now giving him... What a little sweetie, and so lucky to have you in his life. |
It will take some time to adjust. He probably needs some space, maybe some quiet and privacy for eating and pottying? He may not be used to an audience. Crouching down to his level and letting him come to you, things like that might help his trust problems. I know I'm not a big help, just throwing some things out there. This is a whole new world for him I feel sad for him just looking at those pictures, he looks so unhappy, he has no idea that his future holds lots of kisses and love. He is a handsome guy and I hope things get better very soon. We have a golden retriever we adopted at the pound. He took about 2 weeks to eat a full meal and a good two days before he went pee. They take a long time to trust enough to let you see who they really are. I don't think we saw his real personality until about 2 months after he came home. |
I imagine it will take him a while to come around- who knows what he's been through in that place! Lots of love will bring him out of his shell. That's great that he's getting a second chance at life. |
I think time will help him adjust. He's very cute! Congrats on your new marriage! That's exciting. My hubby and I were also born in '81 and I just got married last year. It's been an adventure, that's for sure ;) |
