Finally Buddy can see! after examining the eye area on loads of piccys of pups on here, i braved it and got out the scissors and guess what i found? TWO big round eyes!! lol
we've spent the last few days saying to buddy 'wow, look at your big eyes!' its really odd how just a tiny trim can make them look different but it does, and i'm sure he's happier now he can see where he's going. :)

You are brave. I have tried but Gucci hates the scissors so im scared to poke her. He looks adorable, beautiful eyes.

Good for you. I keep a pair of round ended scissors for Maggie's eye clipping. Sometimes she wiggles, so the round ends make it a little safer.

Buddy is a doll and I know what you mean on the eyes - When I trimmed Cheri's for the first time - I couldn't STOP looking into those pretty eyes ! She was a whole new girl.....

Buddy looks so sweet and I saw you titled his picture as "Sleepyhead" so I gave him a frame with the stars and the moon....

I am nervous about cutting the hair near Deegan's eyes too, but unlike you I haven't built up the courage to do it yet.

Those are some beautiful pictures of buddy though - he looks so angelic! :angel2dl:

how did you get your dog to stay still for you? I still cant get Toffee to sit for his brushing! =) You did a really great job! And yes, you're one brave soul.

Toffee: Buddy falls asleep if you rub his ears, so i rubbed and rubbed and then cut as fast as i could with one hand while i held his sleepy head in the other :)

Nice trim!! Nice big eyes staring at you now, so he can get away with anything. I do Coco's when she's sleeping, and she's a deep sleeper so she doesn't even notice, but now I'm trying to grow them out so they can flow downwards.

Which eye hairs do you trim? The ones above or below the eyes? I was thinking the ones above have to grow so you can pull them up eventually in a topnot but wasn't sure what to do with the ones below or beside the eye. As you can see in Piper's pics his hair gets in front of his eyes. Where should I cut or should I just try to comb them down to lay on each side of his snout or will they grow and lay eventually on their own? Is cutting them pretty much the norm? As you can see I have no clue :rolleyes: Thanks for any advice :)

Hi tammy, i just trimmed the ones near the inside part of the eye/nose the ones that wont lay down or go up in the air! also a tiny trim of the hair over his eyes as i wont be putting Buddys hair in a topnot, i thought i best do something with it, now alot of that hair has gone from the inside of his eye he doesnt seem to get as much of that yucky stuff coming from his eyes. By the way BIG THANKS to whoever posted about using a flea comb or kids nit comb to just clear the yucky stuff, brilliant idea it works perfect!

Thanks so much Lyn! I will see if that "opens" up his eyes a little. Piper gets that yucky stuff too. I asked the vet if there was anyhting I could do about it and he said it's part of the breed. I wish it would just go away because it always makes his hair there look wet. I use a wet washcloth to soften it up and then comb it out with a fine tooth comb also. Looks like it'll continue to be an everday thing but I might trim up those hairs and see if that helps. Thanks again!! :D
