March 30,2007 Muldoon dies he Hello all... Our Yorkshire Terrier Muldoon died unexpectedly on March 30, 2007. Muldoon was only age 8. We took him to the vet on the 29th due to him not using his front left leg. Doctor determined temporary paralysis due to inflammed gums. The doctor perscribed an antibiotic and antiinflammatory drug. 12 hours later he died. The vet felt horrible and offered a free autopsy of which we agreed and today the results came back in as all organs were healthy. The brain was not looked at. Does anyone know if this could have been a stroke or???? He was our heart and soul and we cannot accept that there was no reason for his death. Please help..... jasonsaramak@adelphia.net |
I am so sorry that you lost Muldoon. It sounds like such a mystery. Did the vet have any ideas? I have never heard of temporary paralysis due to inflammed gums? How does that happen? |
I am sorry for your loss! How sad, and to not know why must be awful! |
How Sad So sorry to hear Muldoon died. You must be devastated. I hope you are able to find an answer to your question, and another conversation with the vet might be beneficial. There are many people who have lost their beloved pups in this forum, so continue to talk. Warmly, Deborah |
What antiinflammatory did he give him? Was it Rimadyl? It has been known to cause death. |
So sorry to hear Muldoon died.Hope you are better now, I really do know how hard it is. Hope you'll find another puppy to caress your soul and give you the love that you're missing now. |

I am so sorry for your loss -- I know the pain of losing a beloved pet unexpectedly all too well. We lost our little Maggie when she was at the groomers. We never knew exactly what happened. I was going to have the vet autopsy but we finally decided that nothing would bring her back and if I found proof positive the groomers did something I was afraid of the hate I would feel. It is hard yet today, to drive by their shop. The loss will always be with you but in time the happy memories will overshadow the void. You will not get over it but you will get through it. Bless you all! |
My sincere condolences on your loss. How devastating for you. Sometimes we just never know the "why". You are in my thoughts and prayers. RIP Muldoon. |

I am so sorry for your loss. I also never heard of this, however, if a human gets gum desease and it is not taken care of the infection can travel to the brain and cause death. That happened just last month to a 16yr old who's mother could not afford a dentist. He suffered with the pain until the infection traveled to his brain and then it was too late. I hope in time your heart heals. |
I'm so so sorry to hear your bad news. Please RIP Muldoon |
R.i.p :( im soooo srry for ur loss i have TONZ of prayers that im sendin ur way :( R.I.P Muldoon-a very loved yorkie who will never be forgotten |
I'm very sorry for the loss of your little Yorkie boy. That must be very hard on you right now. I just wish you could find out what killed him. To me, it sounds like one of the two medications, or the both together could have been the cause. |
I am so sorry for your loss :( :( Your family is in my prayers. |
Muldoon Dies we are so baffled by the loss of our soul mate Muldoon. The other three yorkies ...Roisin(rowsheen), Emma and O'Malley are just as lost as we are. I spoke to the vet yesterday who said that there were no significant findings after the necropsy, the heart, lungs, kidneys were excellent. We feel it had to do with the brain but the doctor is not skilled enough to do neuro exam. Muldoon lost 20% of his body weight from 17 lbs to 12lbs and he just became so tired and unmotivated all within a weeks time. After doing some research I discovered his death could possibly be related to two falls he took off of the couch and onto the hardwood floor. He appeared fine and playful. I will post pictures soon of the clan. Muldoon, will be coming back home in a week. We chose to have him cremated and kept close to us. I am in the process of trying to find a new baby for my mother once the mourning subsides some. The problem now is... they have become so popular and so expensive. I know we can't replace Muldoon, but I know a new baby will help mom with the healing process. Does anyone know of any good breeders here in the Boston, New York area. we are in rural buffalo new york. Also if anyone has any suggestions or thoughts on what might have caused Muldoons unexpected death. |
Loss of Muldoon 1 Attachment(s) :shocked7q :fallen: :rbyorkie: My heart grieves for you. Losing a loved one is always a heartbreaking and life changing experience. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Jay  :rbyorkie: |
Tinkerbell looks just like my Yorkie Emma... they could be twins:D |
the medications that were perscribed were clavimox 125 mg and rimadil...65 mg anti inflammatory |

I think getting another baby is the best thing to do. I lost my little girl almost a month ago. It was very tragic too and I don't know what caused it. She was only 14 months old and I have gotten another little girl a week ago. I got one that is the same age as Summer was. It has really helped its still hard though. I hope you find out some more information soon. It is really hard when you don't know what caused their death. My prayers are with you. |
A year ago on April 24th, I took my 13 year old Chance to the vet for a routine treatment. I got a call at 10:30 in the morning from the vet, who told me something terrible had happened. She inserted a cather to give him IV fluids, he yelped and died. I was devastated and spent days trying to figure out what had gone so terribly wrong. She wanted to have a necropsy done (of course, I blamed her), but I didn't want to have his body ravaged, and nothing would have convinced me that it was a strange coincidence. I spoke with many professionals, and most believe that he probably threw a blood clot. Could that possibly have happened to Muldoon? I am so sorry for your loss. It is always hard to lose ones that you love and especially hard when it happens so suddenly. May you always find comfort in your sweet memories. |
I am so sorry to hear of your loss.It is possible it could have been an emboli. When my little one died unexpectedly years ago it really helped having a new pup.You are in our thoughts and prayers. :hearts-xx :hearts-xx : |

I'm so sorry for your loss. My first thought was a stroke. Then you said he feel twice. Could the falls have been cause from problems with the brain? Maybe he had been having minor strokes for some time. |
