| Yorkie Died This Morning Early this morning my Yorkie stopped breathing. Last night it appeared he had a bit of stomach distress and was gagging (maybe coughing???) we assumed he had just eaten something that disagreed with him or ate too fast as he has done before. We we got up this morning he appeared to still be gagging but appeared fairly alert, we took him to the kitchen and was planning taking him to the vet when he layed on his side and his tongue kinda dropped out his mouth and had a blue tent. I tried mouth to nose while my husband attempted to call the vet since it was out of office hours. However his his heart just stopped beating. Any clues on what could have caused this? He was a house papertrained dog who was never around any other dogs except for our maltese. They are papertrained and both rarely went outside. Any thoughts are appreciated. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | You should take your dog in for an autopsy to find the cause of death. Such sudden death is so shocking and horrific. I am so sorry for your loss. http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html

| I am sorry for your loss. I would still contact the vet, since you also have another pet in the home and you are not sure what happened. Our prayers go out to you

| I am so sorry for your loss. What a horrible thing to have to go through let alone witness. I am not a vet just throwing something out there - Could he have possibly had a collapsed trachea? It is common among smaller breed dogs. So Sorry. God Bless his little heart. He is happy at Rainbow Bridge. |

| I just took Shadow in because he was coughing (kennel cough) he is 5 months old and he is on an antibiotic and cough meds. The vet told me that there is a "dog virus or flu" going around right now. She said, it hasn't hit our part of the country yet, I'm in PA. but maybe thats what he got? I don't know but I'm SO SORRY for your loss! Prayers being said for you and your family!

| Just talked to the vet and he seems to think it was a blood clot to the lungs. It had probably formed the day before and when he got up this morning and started moving around it broke loose and went to his lungs. |
