Awww, they are adorable! I like Bruiser(?) the light one. He looks very "serious"! |
Actually, Bruiser is the small black one. Buddy is the light colored one, and he just passed suddenly on Saturday. Thanks though, we always thought they were pretty great looking! |
Gosh, I'm so sorry. I should have read a little more carefully! They are both adorable though. |
My thoughts are with you...I have been in your shoes. My husband was in Iraq last year and last October I was outside doing yard work and my bulldog (Jelly Bean) passed away! She was just fine a few minutes before, then 7 hours later my other bulldog (Bull Dozer) passed away. I think someone poisoned them. It was very strange. I thought this cannot be real... I am so sorry for your loss! My thoughts and prayers are with you... God Bless you:ghug: |
Thanks! Sorry for your loss too... did you get another dog right away? I think that is what we have to do. |
In am so very sorry for your losses. What a huge tear in your heart. Sending healing hugs :ghug: |
Oh my goodness!! I just found out that our neighbors in back had a dog die 2 weeks ago from parvo. While our dogs had all of their shots, and she says hers did too, how would this happen to hers, and could that be what happened to my little ones? Would the vet not know that when they did the necropsy? I feel very uninformed and surrounded by unanswered questions! All I know is that I let Buddy out everyday to run in our backyard. He was current on vaccinations. He was not showing any symptoms of being ill. I never let Tinkerbell out unless it was on a leash with us. She was current on all vaccinations. She got ill Sunday night. If anyone knows anymore about parvo please let me know. I am researching it all I can... just to know. Thanks |
Sorry. I think I am just trying to latch on to a viable reason. I sound borderline hysterical... I took Bruiser in to make sure he was ok when I picked up Tink yesterday and he's fine. if it were parvo, I'm sure he'd have it too. I'm sure the vet would have caught it in her tests too. I just want it to make some kind of sense. I am just going to try to move on from this now, it has become too much to keep dwelling on. I still would like to express pure gratitude for all of you who posted such kind and compassionate messages! |
I have seen dogs sick with parvo. There is no playing and acting just fine, they are weak, won't eat, can't keep anything down/in, lethargic and it only gets worse. Parvo is a slow painful death for dogs. A friend had a dog with parvo, when we went to put him down, you could smell the death, it was awful. I know your trying to find anything for closure, but you would know if it was parvo. One thing you need to keep in mind, if your neighbors dogs had parvo and died in that yard, a new puppy in your yard could get it too. I am not sure what measures you would need to take to prevent it, but look preventing it first. |
I had a dog with Parvo years ago. A dalmation we recued from the pound. We didn't have 3 days when he bacame ill. Believe me when I say that if they have Parvo you know it. They are very sick with vomiting, bloody diarrhea, extremely weak. They can go down hill ver, very fast but you know it for sure. I would be very careful with any new puppies as your neigbors dog died of it because it can live in an area for something like a year to 2 years...I don't remember the time now but it is long. Your new puppy would be in a lot of danger. Kim :aimeeyork |
There is a bacteria called campylobacter that mimics parvo even the blood test shows a positive for parvo. If the dog is fully vaccinated then this should be something your vet should consider. Here'a an article on Parvo vs. Campylobacter http://nypugclub.org/health/ShowCrud.htm Like others have said, parvo symptoms are very severe, the dog will not eat (even the most tempting foods) or drink and usually hide and of course have the smelly diarrhea and vomiting. It is true that the virus can remain active for a year or more. I would take a solution of bleach and water and spray your entire yard. |
I am so very sorry for your losses - it seems so hard to cope when you loose two, and don't have reasons why it happened. I hope somehow you will be able to find closure on what happened. Our thoughts are with you at this very sad time. |
So very sorry for your loss!! You are in my thoughts and prayers!!! |
OMG how terrible. Your family is in my prayers. |
How horrible! I'm so sorry for your double loss. God bless. |
