My Me-Me died today of histoplasmosis in her blood stream My Me-Me died today. She had a massive fungal infection in her blood stream and it spread through her entire tiny body. She was a spot fire at just 8 years old and weighed 3 pounds. Her size made it so hard for the drugs to work. I miss my little angel so much. She was at UT Veterinary Hospital and had the best doctors. First time they had seen it in the blood. Me-Me's autopsy will make her a tiny hero because she will help save the next pup sick with this. RIP my baby. Me-Me. :littleang:littleang:littleang:littleang:littleang :littleang:littleang:littleang |

So sorry for your loss… and thank you & me me for being guardian angels to other little ones who are going through same illness. |
I am so sorry for your loss. Me-Me was a beautiful little girl. I lost my little Bella who was also only three pounds last Friday morning. So I feel your pain. You are in my prayers. |
I'm so sorry you lost your precious Bella. I understand what you are going through. If you need a shoulder, please contact me. The hospital gave me books on grieving that showed it is good to cry and let it out. I am doing very well at this. Linda |
I called the University of Tennessee Vet Hospital and talked to Me-Me's doctor. Now I have questions about her. She said she contracted it via spores in the air around two weeks ago. She said Me-Me didn't have a chance because it was in her blood which is very rare. I was so confused since she was not outside because of cold and snow during that time. We will know more after they are done searching for answers. I hear people say that this is the bird and bat disease from letting pets around them. It is also contracted other ways sadly. The specialist found it only in a text book. She was amazed at the finding. Me-Me is now our little hero to save the next. |
That is odd, please keep us posted when you get some answers. And again, my Deepest Sympathies. |
Could it be avian flu(bird flu)? |
I am so sorry of the loss of your angel Me Me.Susan |
Histoplasmosis is also called bird flu. What is not known, because it is so rare is that animals wih compromised immune systems can get it from us walking in soil and from the spores being in the air. They don't have to eat or dig in anything if they have the compromised immune system. We had her at The University of Tennessee Small Animal Hospital. It is one of the tops. It can cost you 1,000 a day for the specialists. She was there almost five days after being at our vet for Meds for three days prior. Our vet said she wasn't responding. I'm tired of people looking this up and automatically thinking I had her in the yard eating bird poop. She was pad trained. If she went out it was on the patio with me. I know what my yorkies are eating. It took a really determined specialist calling in other specialists to find out this is what she had. The vet called Saturday night in shock. It was so rare that it was only in a text book. Now with my tiny hero they can study her and she can help save the next. We will probable not hear of this happening to another since it's rareness. I'm feeling better today after calling her vet yesterday with my questions. Even if she was in two weeks ago it would have ended up the same. We had snow and mostly cold for the last few weeks...Me-Me was an inside yorkie. My tiny Hero |
Thank you for all of your sweet condolences. She is in Jesus arms waiting for me. |
I am so sorry for your loss |
I am so sorry for your loss. My father had that disease half his life. It can be airborne was what he was told and it can be very contagious. I sincerely hope your family has been checked as well as your other pets. When dad would have a severe flare up they would quarentine him and we had to wear masks into his room. |
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Rest in Peace sweet little Me Me. |
