Oh my gosh, how horrible!!! He came into your house?? :( Wow, nowhere is safe huh? Terrible, tragedy. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family. RIP sweet Lola |
OMG! I am so very sorry! The pit needs to be put down, I hate it, but it could hurt another fur baby or a child! The owners are responsible! |
4 Attachment(s) Thank you all so much for your kind words. The hearing was today and I feel it went very well, the town manager who was overseeing the hearing was very no-nonsense and listened to the facts. Every time they tried to change the subject he would say its not relevant and move on. They also tried to lie about a few past incidents and he caught them in their lies as well. The other neighbors all banded together and wrote a letter and had signatures from everyone on the block explaining how vicious Frank (the pit) is and how they all fear for the safety of their children. My husband and I were very touched by this gesture from our community. We will find out the outcome by tuesday, the animal control officer is going to hand deliver the ruling as soon as it is ready. Today was a very emotional day for me, not only did we have the hearing, but when I returned home from work I found that our Lola had finally come home to us again. Along with her ashes in a memorial box was a personal handwritten letter from the vet who treated Lola the night of the attack. It explained her deep sympathy and sorrow over such a tragic incident and hope that we can find joy in our wonderful memories and also with our upcoming baby. I found it so touching and sweet that she took her time out of her busy schedule to do this for us. Lola and her story must have touched her deeply, everyone who knew her loved her instantly. I realize in my last post I didn't talk much about my sweet little girl. She was a little 4lb cutie with a larger than life personality. She loved her toys and especially her little squeaky bouncy balls. She bossed around her big-little brother, and I think he secretly loved it! He always followed her lead. She was super friendly and loved all people and animals alike. If she saw you, she wanted to say Hi to you! And especially get her belly rubbed. She didn't mind getting her hair done everyday and even liked when we dressed her up in her pretty dresses(I think it was all the extra attention it got her!) She was afraid of nothing and always knew what she wanted and always figured out exactly how to get it. I will miss her nose kisses and snuggles. How she never wanted to get up in the morning and loved being cuddled under a ton of blankets. But most of all her sweet little face and the way she looked at you with so much love and affection that she couldn't wait to show you with lots and lots of kisses. RIP Little Lola ~Momma's glad your back home and will be safe forever~ |
nothing will bring back your precious Lola but I am glad to hear you have the support of your neighborhood. Your little girl sounds so much like my Lola so I know just how a piece of your heart has been taken. I hope the upcoming baby and the support of your family and friends and us here on YT will help you get through this difficult time. |
How awful for you to go through such a tragic thing. My heart goes out to you and a hug to you.Susan |
Rest in Peace Beautiful Little Lola. Such a darling little girl, taken tragically much too soon. |
Oh my gosh I am so sorry for your loss. What a tragedy. I pray that the authorities will do the right thing. I am so sorry. RIP Lola. |
OH MY GOD!!! I don't even know how to respond to this. So horrible. |
This is terrible. My heart goes out to you. Rest in Peace, Lola. |
I am very sorry your beautiful little Lola was taken in such a terrible way. Praying for your comfort. I'm glad your community stepped up and supported you. Rest in peace, little Lola. |
I am so sorry to hear about your sweet Lola. We have 7 pit bulls surrounding our house, two on each side and three behind us. None of them are friendly to our dogs and they growl and terrorize my dogs and me. The owners behind us taught their dog to attack the fence when we go in our back yard. When i heard that one of them next door jumped the fence into another neighbor's yard and attacked their Cocker Spaniel I put up a six foot privacy fence to feel safe. The pits on the other side are trying to dig under the fence and slam their bodies into the fence when ever they hear us in our back yard. The fence buckles in when they hit it. I still don't really feel safe from them. Needless to say I am terrified of these dogs. I hope that dog is removed from that owners home and they are held accountable. There are a lot of irresponsible dog owners around. |
I'm so sorry on the loss of your adorable little Lola. What a horrible thing to happen. I hope those neighbors have to pay for pain and suffering along with any medical costs. It's the least they could do. The pit bull needs to be put down, way too aggressive and vicious. |
Thank you all again for your sweet words. It has now been one week since the hearing and we still have no answers to what is going to happen with the pit bull. I spoke to the animal control officer yesterday and he said he believes its being held up by "paperwork" but as soon as he hears/rec's a decision he will be at our front door with the news. I'm beyond frustrated because I want this ordeal to be over, I want to feel safe in my own home again! In regards to the neighbors I'm not sure what to do. They have not spoken to us or tried to make any contact regarding the vet bills. It almost seems like they are intentionally avoiding us since the incident. A friend has recommended mailing them a certified letter with a copy of the vets bills and asking them to reimburse us for the cost since they openly stated during the hearing (and under oath in front of the animal control officer and town manager) that they would cover the bills 100%. And if they do not respond to take them to small claims court. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm just not sure how to handle the situation, I will try to keep you posted as soon as we hear the ruling from the hearing. I pray no one else has to go through this awful situation! |
I don't have any experience but I would, without a doubt take them to small claims court. Sue them for vet bills, the cost of replacing your Lola (not that you could ever replace her) and pain and suffering. They should be bending over backwards to make amends for what their dog did. Unbelievable! |
I am deeply saddened by your horrible loss. We have had our Max for about 6 weeks and already I could not even imagine what I would do if we lost him. I read on another post that the home insurance of where the attacking dog lives should cover all expenses. They even covered the cost of a new puppy and the 1st year's expenses of that puppy. That makes sense because it was already paid for by the owner so they should not have to incur those expenses again. It will not bring back your loved one but those !@#$%'s should have to pay for what happened. |
