RIP My sweet Jake
 
Today I sent my little friend Jake to Rainbow Ridge. I got Jake 10 years ago very abused, scared and unhappy dog. He was rescued from a shelter by a wonderful person that had to sneak him out in a garbage can not to be euthanized. She thought he was too beautiful not to be given a chance. Once he felt safe, he became a loving companion. But age caught up with my friend. It became too selfish for me to ask him to go on. The peace I have is that he will no longer be caught in a world he could not see, hear or understand. God speed my friend.... Tiny and I are here waiting for your spirit to make its way home once again. We love you Jake.:lovewings

Awww I am so sorry for your loss :( It never gets any easier. RIP Jake.

I am so sorry for your loss. Releasing Jake from his physical pains was the most loving act you could ever do. Now, you will have your very own Yorkie guardian angel.

I am so sorry for your loss, you gave Jake the love he would of never known if he had not been rescued. Praying that all those sweet memories bring you comfort.

I'm sorry to hear about Jake, but wow, that's great that he got 10 happy years with you after such a rough early life. It's amazing what a sweet human can do for a scared furbutt that shelters want to just write off. I just love reading stories about awesome people who are able to bring out the awesome potential of dogs who had previously been held down from being the dog they could be. I know the heartbreak is so acute right now, but know in the big picture that you guys were both big winners for having each other.

RIP to Jake and hugs to you, apang29.

I am so very sorry for your loss and thankful that you gave him all the love and care he deserved from day 1 and didn't get. His life was blessed because of you (and yours because of him).

Thanks everyone for the kind words and prayers for Jake. It I amazing how much I miss the sights and sounds of him. My sadness is helped knowing he is now at peace. It was harder to watch him go from the alpha dog of the house to the most vulnerable. He used to walk for miles but could not walk half way down the street without having to be carried home. He remained a great companion and great watch dog in spite of being deaf and blind. I knew my Jake loved me. I hope he knew how much I loved him.

So sorry Jake has passed. It sounds as if you gave him a life of love and pampering once you got him and likely the last thing he knew in life was your love and your face. Goodbye, sweet boy. I KNOW you're in a better place waiting.

I am sorry for your loss. You rescued him and gave him 10 years that he wouldn't have had otherwise. Amazing story! I pray the happy memories of your time together will bring you comfort.

You were Jake's hero, and you taught him that humans are capable of love. From your words, I don't think he knew that before he met you. But from your words I also feel such an overwhelming love from you for a little boy who was so treasured. Nothing can ever take that love away. Jake will remain in a special part of your heart filled with so much love. I am very sorry for your loss.

You are right. Jake did not know much if any love. He used to hear a certain pitch of a mans voice, would cry and cover his head with his paws. It was really sad to see. It was not until I got another rescue that was very loving that he learned he wanted some of that too. PeeWee was in reality his angel. He helped him learn a little loving was not so painful.

I am going to concentrate on all that I had from him and not what I have lost. But, I will always wish my Jake could come home.
