My Peppi is gone... 4 Attachment(s) Friday, December 7, I had to say goodbye to my cocker spaniel Peppi. She was just 2 months shy of being 15 years old. I came from work and noticed something wasn't right. I checked her over and dreaded what I found. She had bloat, rare in a cocker. It was the middle of the night and I had my vet meet me at the clinic. X-rays confirmed I was right (vet couldn't believe it as he had never seen it in a cocker). Bloat in a cocker is a rarity and my vet felt there was an underlying cause in addition as her eating habits hadn't changed (I always took precautions such as feeding her several small meals, a raised diner, no exercise shortly before/after eating, etc). I had to make the difficult decision whether to do surgery or euthanize her. Due to her age, the chances of surgery being successful and her making it were slim and the vet recommended euthanasia. She went to sleep in my arms. She has been there for me for over half of my life, she was my shadow. She got me started in the dog world and taught me so much. I always thought I would have more time with her. She was still very energetic for her age, really loved life. That this happened so suddenly is killing me. I keep wondering whether I made the right decision. What I could have done differently. I feel like I'm going crazy. I keep imagining her, listening for her. My heart is so broken right now. Peppi you will Forever be Loved and Missed. I hope Duchess and Hershey are taking good care of you in heaven until we meet again... |
so sorry.. hugs |
You did the right thing. If there had been any chance the vet would have told you. I am so sorry for your lost...and hope you can keep the happy memories in your heart Hugs |
Sorry for your loss |
Tracey, I'm so sorry...you really did do the right thing and you knew it right then a`nd there, didn't you?...its easy to second guess now because you miss her so much...don't do that, you know you made the best decision at the time and to spare her from pain and suffering...how lucky you were that you were able to hold her as she left this world...aww Momma remember all the beautiful memories she left you...I'm so sorry your in pain...just want you to know you did the right thing, for your baby... |
I'm so sorry for your loss. Peppi lived a long and loved life with you and you did your best for her. You'll have your memories and her love with your forever. R.I.P., little Peppi. |
I am so sorry for the lost of your peppi. May she rest in peace :( |
Tracey, I am so sorry for your loss of beautiful Peppi. I know right now it might not feel that way, but you made the right choice for her. Sending you comforting hugs. |
I'm so sorry I know it's hard to loose a beloved pet |
I'm so sorry for the loss of your much loved Peppi. RIP sweet Peppi. |
what a pretty girl, letting your pet go when the time comes is a very unselfish act on your part because you put Peppi's needs ahead of your own. 15 years is a long time, but no matter how long we have with a beloved pet it is never enough. Suddenly is harder on you, but try to reverse think it as being a good thing because she had almost no suffering and then entered rainbow bridge in the comfort of your arms so she felt safe and loved as she crossed over. ((((((hugs to you)))))) and rest in peace sweet Peppi. |
My heart breaks for you. I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace, Peppi. |

I am so sorry for the loss of your Peppi. I know what a hard decision it is to make to let your baby go. It\'s the most unselfish act of love a pet owner can do. You did the right thing..do not second guess yourself. You saved Peppi from more pain and let her run freely across rainbow bridge, where you will see her again someday. Hugs! |
I\'m so sorry for your loss. Please don\'t feel bad over your choice, one of the hardest parts of being owned by a pet is letting them go peacefully without suffering. |
Peppi was quite a beautiful girl and I am sorry for your loss. May you take comfort in the wonderful memories of Peppi. Rest in peace Peppi and run free across the Rainbow Bridge. |
I\'m so sorry for your loss of Peppi...she crossed over knowing she was loved...take some comfort in that. Please dont second guess yourself...you did the right thing in not prolonging her suffering. I am so sorry for your loss. Peppi brings back memories of the cocker spaniel mix we shared our life with for 14 years. Alfie went to rainbow bridge about 6 years ago and we still think about him & miss him. You did the right thing for Peppi.... |
Your Peppi was so beautiful. I am so sorry for your loss. |
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know your going to have a sad Christmas but just remember that Peppi is at the rainbow bridge celebrating Christmas with all the other furangels and she happy and healthy. Rest in peace sweet baby. |

Bet your dog had meant a LOT to you, sorry and don\'t be too hard on yourself >.< |
Peppi was a beautiful dog and now she is in heaven with my Teddy Peanut. See we have a God who cares about His creatures and I know there is a special place for them. It is so heartbreaking to lose a precious dog friend. You cry and shed tears but in your heart know that beautiful Peppi is not far away and she is running around in the heavenly grounds. |
I am so sorry for your loss... But you made the right decision for her. RIP Peppi |
