I just came back from the vets and Georgie is gone. It was so hard to see her passing. I am grateful that her passing was very peaceful. I held her while she went to sleep and stayed with her until I was sure that she was gone. When the vet first came in with her she was wrapped in a towel, the first night she was mine I bathed her and carried her wrapped in a towel and sang to her. To see her on the day that that she was to be no longer in my life, wrapped in a towel hurt so bad.

Georgie was 14 when she passed and she was such a good dog. She was so loyal and loving, my first dog, my loyal friend I will miss her so much. Its so hard to grapple with the choice to end the life of such a faithful companion, I will be trying to take comfort in the fact that she doesnt hurt anymore and that she wont have to see the end of life alone and in pain.

I am so sorry... I know it must have been hard to let her go, but you made the right choice for her.

So sorry, I know it wasn't an easy decision, but sometimes necessary in order to end their suffering. I hope that your daughter was able to understand why it had to be done. Sending hugs to you and your family. Remember that she will always be with you in your heart and in spirit !

I'm just so sorry that this day had to come. But you faced it with her and saw her home as gently and peacefully as possible. I am sure that was a great comfort to her. Her last memory was of mommy's arms and love. Her life with you will always be a blessing to remember and cherish. R.I.P., little Georgie Girl. Mommie, take care of yourself.

Thanks so much for your kind words of support. My DD finally understood, I was lying in bed curled up with Chloe and crying my heart out, she came in a hugged me and told me she loved me. Just as I thought, I am a devestated and she is doing so much better than I am (thank God!). My DH came home and just held me, he said he is proud of me for letting her go and that he wasnt sure if I would be able to let her go. She has been such a huge part of my life for 14 years and it was one of the toughest things I have ever had to do. The house feels so strange with one less heartbeat. She layed down most of the time but even though she slept alot the house feels so much emptier and oddly quiet without her.

This one is going to take a while to come to terms with.

So sorry to hear about Georgie but you did the right thing for her -- she is no longer in pain. May Georgie rest in peace and I hope you will take some comfort in the wonderful memories you made together. Hugs and prayers for you.

I am so sorry for you loss, you have faced the hardest decision of any pet owner today. You let Georgie go to sleep with a peaceful heart and with her in your arms, that was the ultimate gift of love. RIP sweet Georgie

Sometimes the hardest decision is the most loving. I know it still hurts and leaves a big void. Time will heal that but they certainly leave paw prints on our hearts. My deepest condolences.

These are the hardest times.....just remember, she didnt know she was not going to wake up in your arms, so she went to sleep peacefully in mommy's arms, where she always felt the safest. Your face was the last thing she saw, and she will carry that to Rainbow Bridge, where she is now running and playing with all the vim and vigor she had as a puppy those long 14 years ago. You made the great sacrifice, you let her go, you showed her you were truly worthy of all the love and devotion she bestowed on you with her every breath, every beat of her heart.

RIP Georgie.....such a hard decision but the right one for Georgie and hopefully her spirit will comfort you knowing she is no longer in pain.
