Such a Hard Day
 

:rainbow:I know this isn't a Yorkie story but I knew you all would understand and also it gives me a chance to share my feelings.

I had a beautiful 14 year old Sheltie that I had to put to sleep today. He has had an autoimmune disorder for a good portion of his life. After multiple tests years ago it was determined that all of his problems stemmed from his Mom and Dad were borther and sister. I rescued him when he was 4 years old but tracked all of his information back and this is how we found where he came from. The lady was closed down thank goodness but it sure didn't help my Chili. My heart ached everytime he had one of his many down falls but we were able to work though them. Recently though he just wasn't able to fight it. This past week he just mentally and phsycially gave up the fight. His heart was in there but I couldn't get him to eat or move. His hair was even falling out. His skin stated boiling from the inside out. I felt so sad and helpless. So this morning I had no choice but to help him to the Rainbow Bridge. Poor little guy, I know he is out of pain now but it is still hard for us here. RIP Chili- We love you.

Oh my goodness... I am so sorry for your loss :( It sounds like you gave him a great life.

My MIL had a sheltie for many years and had to put him to sleep this year... He had cancer in his anal glands and he went through chemo and surgery and she finally knew it was his time to go.

I cannot imagine how you are feeling right now, just know we are thinking of you...

I am so sorry for your loss. I know it was a hard thing to do, but it was merciful. He was a very blessed little boy to have had a mom and dad who loved him so much and helped him through the hard times during his life. Rest in peace, Chili.

So sorry. RIP sweet baby boy. Its so hard and at the same time it makes me mad to think people would do what they do and then the animals have to suffer. Backyard breeders, puppymills etc. will one of these days pay for all the suffering they have caused. I know you gave him a good life and thank goodness he had you to love and care for him.

I am so very sorry. I wish there were words that I could say to make you feel better. Time will help...and so will thinking about all the happy times you had together. He will be waiting for you across rainbow bridge. And now he is no longer in pain....he is able to play and be happy while he waits for you. Hugs to you and your family.

It is so painful to lose one loved so dear, but the love and your memories last forever. I hope that in time when you think of Chili that it will be with smiles rather than the pain you are now feeling. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Oh so so sorry for your loss today. How difficult on so many fronts. Please be in peace knowing you did the most selfless loving thing you could for Chili. I will have you in my prayers as you go through this transition of loss. Losing our furbabies is so hard - they are such a tactic part of lifes and to have that emotional and physical link cut is such a painful thing.

I am so sorry for your loss. Last month I had to euthanize my 15 1/2 Shih Tzu. He had lung cancer and was diagnosed last April. The vet told me I had to euthanize him then but I didn't think it was necessary at the time. He was still eating and drinking and was still active. Over the course of the months from then I helped him (Max) live his remaining days. Around the beginning of January Max started to go down hill. He finally stopped eating and drinking and I knew it was time to let him go. It was very hard because he was around while my children were growing up and he was very special to me. I now have a 16 year old Shih Tzu who doesn't seem to have anything wrong with her. I am always afraid something is going to go wrong with her. I also have a 10 year Pomparian and a year old Yorkshire terrier. I love all my dogs but it doesn't take the pain away of losing a pet. I wish you well in your grieving process.

Just wanted to let you know that you are still in my thoughts and prayers! Big hugs to you!!!

Thanks again for the love and support. Today was a little better day!! It is still hard to think that Chili is gone but it was a comforting feeling waking up and knowing he is out of pain and a happy healthy little guy again. I miss seeing his cute little mug and probably will but I know in my heart that I made the correct decision.

I am so sorry to hear of your sadness. I wish I could give you words of comfort, but for now, you have to grieve and that is not easy. From your post I can tell you gave Chili a good life with you and went above and beyond to make him better when down. I'm so sorry and send heartfelt sympathy and hugs.
