After 32 yrs with us, Rudy went to rainbow bridge :(
 

I lost my lil Rudy boy this afternoon :( I know he's not a yorkie but a parrot. I just figured I'd post it in here. For those of you that know as in my other thread he was sick for a few weeks and had a very hard time walking. We found out he had gout which likely was caused by kidney disease a few weeks ago. We'd been giving him medicine religiously. He was trying so hard to fight it but his body eventually gave out. He's been with our family for 32 yrs (vet says he's probably 38-40yrs old) through literally everything: The birth of my daughter 22 yrs ago, deaths, good times, vacations with us, and hard times. He was a little guy with a huge personality. He accepted our other dog Brody and when Louie arrived he showed him who was boss. I'm sure going to miss him so much and already do. He screamed whenever the garage door opened to greet us, in the morning and even when he saw something in the backyard that shouldn't be. We always called him our little watch bird. I think he'd protect us more than a dog would LOL He grew up with my daughter and now our house feels so empty. A lot of people would say he's just a bird but that was never what we thought. We never knew a bird could be so loving and protective and comical until we got Rudy. I think Louie even knows something is wrong. He was laying on Rudy's pillow that we put by his cage so if he fell he wouldn't hurt himself. Even though I find comfort in knowing he's flying around pain free at rainbow bridge with all the animals it's still very hard. He passed away being held and petted with his family around him and that does give us comfort.

RIP lil Rude Dude... I'll always think of you. Mommy and your family will sure miss you and always love you. :cry: :rose:

I am so sorry for your loss. Thirty-two years is such a long time, but not long enough. He sounded like such a sweet companion and friend. He will always be in your heart and you will always hear the songs he used to sing to you. Rest in peace, Rudy.

I am so sorry that your heart is hurting by the loss of your beloved Rudy. The loss of a family member is never easy....now you have a sweet watch bird looking over you!

Rudy sounds like he had a very loving and pampered life. So sorry you lost him, its just so hard at times like this. RIP little one.

i'm so sorry for your loss. i know how it is to really Love a bird. i've had my Parrot for over 20 years, had her since she was a baby and she is my heart and soul.
i can tell you gave Rudy the best home ever and he knew how much he was loved which is so beautiful

So sorry for your loss. I never realized how strong the bond was between parrots and people and how unbelieveably smart parrots were, until I read a fabulous book called "Alex and Me". It was sad but so great. Again my deepest sympathies on your loss.

I'm so sorry to see that you lost your beloved Rudy. I send heartfelt sympathy and lots of hugs. I just got done hand feeding a baby love bird for a pet store here and on Thursday he was ready to go back to the store. I cried all the way home and throughout the day. I'm so sorry for your loss.

How our fur & fine feathered friends touch our lives and the memories we share with them are truly the best gifts! Thank you for sharing some of Rudy's with us.

I'm so sorry. I have a U2 (Umbrella Cockatoo) although she thinks she is a Yorkie. LOL. I can't imagine losing her. And, she is a she, she was DNA'd as a baby. They are great companions. Not just a bird. Again, I am truly sorry. It's like losing a part of you after all those years. You're in my thoughts. Elaine

I am so sorry for your loss. I have a Congo African Grey Parrot and I cannot imagine losing her. My most heartfelt sympathies to you and your family.

I am so sorry for you loss of your little Rudy. It doesn't matter if they are fur or feathered they can be loved(and give love) just as much or even more than a person. He is thankful that you gave him the best 32 years of his life.
