Also, I'd like say that I would carry something more than a stick. Maybe pepper spray or something you could spray in the eyes of a dog if forced to. I just don't think a stick would do the trick and I would HATE to see anything like that happen to you again! Best of luck! |
R.I.P Sweet Aggie<3 That pitbull will now suffer and hopefully its owners will be too. |
The solution is not to destroy or punish the pitbull but to send it to some rehabilitation program, because it's not it's fault but the owners fault for mistreating them and allowing this type of behavior. Pitbulls are great dogs. I have a pitbull and a yorkshire who get on fantastically well. I'm upset that because of these careless and irresponsible owner that unfortunately make the whole pitbull breed look bad. |

I understand what you are saying.....but there sure are ALOT of pits out there killing animals and babies. ALL these owners could not be bad. What about the 12 week old pit you just ate the toes off a 4 month old baby this past week. I blame the parents of the baby more than the dog because they were asleep in the same room. STILL, a 12 week old puppy ripping flesh off a baby??? WOW! I have met some sweet Pits, and great owners and 2-3 years into their lives they snapped. These were people who celebrated their Pits birthday, gave gifts etc. Makes you wonder. |
The problem is a few different things. First, it's like any other breed they are not being bred responsibly. People are throwing two Pits together and producing dogs without temperment testing the parents. Genetics play a big part in the temperment as with any breed. The second problem is that these dogs are falling into the hands of irresponsible owners. A Pitbull can be a great dog if it came from an educated breeder who researched and bred responsibly. AND, if the Pit was sold to owners that know the breed and know how to train and handle the breed. Not everyone can own a Pit. You have to have a more dominate personality and from the get go let him or her know you are the boss. You also like any breed have to train early on. This is important especially with the more dominate breeds like a Pit, Doberman, Shephard and Rotti. Pitbulls should not be sold to irresponsible owners and I do believe that responsible breeders will and should conduct a background check and interview on those wishing to buy. I also believe shelters should not adopt out any of these breeds without doing the same. I feel terrible for those that have lost their animals to an attack but it's not necessarily the breed so much as it is the breeding and the training. I've seen Labs attack too. Labradors have become very high the scale of biting dogs and the biggest reason is because of the breeding. These dogs are being bred over and over for the $ and with no care of the genetics being bred. Just my oppinion. Elaine |

Agreed! |
Pitbulls are not killer dogs !!!, I have always had pitbulls last one was 17 years old never bit anyone, but took no unessary changes, on the other hand I have a Jack Russell now that also has been trained but has bitten me several times and attacks other dogs !!!, and if you have seen Cesar the "Dog Whisper" his personal dog is a pitbull !!! Let's get the facts straight, these are powerful dogs, look at the bull mastiffs any of these bigger breeds can inflict more damage cause of their size, but if you look at the most aggressive dogs that have been rated the smaller ones are the most aggressive. |
Very well said, the same goes for the popular Bull Mastiffs now, and let's not forget the Doberman. My Jack Russell doesn't stay behind ! |

I am very sorry to hear this. I am a huge animal lover, and i love ALL animals, but i am starting to feel/think that there is something really wrong with these pits and more control is needed :( |
alot of people don\'t remember the cute little dog on the old \'little rascals\' was one of this type of breed. I don\'t care for them myself, but bred and trained properly they are good dogs. The problem is that they are genetically built to do more damage in a \'kill\' mode than other breeds due to the design features of their jaws. They lock on and kill quickly. Add to that mix not the breed of dog but the new breed of owners... That is the killer combo.. Redneck bonehead owners that are not lazy about their responsibilities but actively encourage the dogs to be aggressive. I would be willing to bet that in this instance they were bragging to their friends about their dog killing the \'rat sized dog\' and how quick he did it. They are proud about that kind of behavior and encourage it. Yorkies are \'bait\' size for these types of dogs. Unfortunately, yes, dogs are legally considered property. We need laws to make these idiots start paying through the nose for their property destroying our property. |
I think unless you experienced first hand losing your baby to a pitbull... you can\'t imagine the pain and trauma that stays with you for the rest of your life. I for one been thru it and did everything I can but my baby was killed in front my eyes.... I may be bias but no dogs that can kill in matter minutes should be allow to hurt other people or dogs. We all have rights to live a good life without feeling threaten... or be made as an example in anyway. I am telling you at the moment that pit attack my dog.. there was no rational but just a killer instinct... it was going for a kill. I really think muzzle is a must... you can\'t trust any aggressive breed... I wish I knew.. but thats a tragedy I can never turn back... only thing is to warn those with little ones to stay away from these big breeds. Also, to let the pit owners to muzzle their dog around babies and small dogs. We are defendless against them when they are in the act... trust me. |
how horrible. im so sorry. poor little baby. i could only imagine that being one of my babies.i would have tackled that pit to the floor before it killed one of my babies .ts bad owners like that with pit bulls that makes pit bulls horrible and have a bad name. she should most definitely sue them and have the pit put to sleep. the judge should order them to never again be able to own another pit or any other dog again because that is not the animals fault it is the owner. makes me so mad. |
So sorry... I cannot imagine how traumatic that must have been...some people just have no common sense. We live in the desert and there are a lot of coyotes even in the neighborhoods. I always worried about that, but I cannot imagine how awful that was to witness. |
