It floors me to think the police say they can't do anything about this? Suppose that bullet went threw the door into a child playing on the floor? Anyone with a weapon should be found and questioned? I think the police in that area are just plain lazy! Call the mayor and contact the local news paper, radio and any animal activists possibly in the area. What a totally sick person. If it is a kid that makes it even worse. I am so very sorry for your sister and that little innocent Yorkie. Put fliers up in the area warning other's of a person who is shotting dogs because the cops aren't doing anything about it. Freedom of speech, they can't do a thing either except take them down but at lease other's will be warned. Terrible, just terrible. |
this makes me sick. what is a happening to this world? |
If someone shot an animal in my presence i would go ape S*** on them. Seriously. I dont understand how it can be "ok" in someones mind to shoot a small defenseless animal. I am outraged and sickened. I am gonna put a burgler alarm in my house, because at this point i am worried sick about not just the shootings but also Yorkies getting stolen. Please everyone, keep your babies safe. |
Ok i just talked to my mom, she said that it is obvious where the bullet came from- she was shot on her right side of her neck and bled out. there is blood everywhere she said. On the right is the house i mentioned before. I guess the boy is a nephew of the people who live there. the uncle came by last night to talk to my sister saying I can't believe this happened. "I'm going to find out if he really was behind it" ect. So it even sound like he might suspect that is was him. But by the way of wound and position there is only one area is could come from and it was the boy's house. Not once have these people said that there they don't own a gun or anything (not that its illegal to own, or make you guilty by association if you do) But its just begining become more obvious who did it. My Mom is going to call the animal control and raise some H***. My sis is on her way on a trip she can't back out of. So mom is going to do it. At least have them investigate a bit more, take a statement maybe some photos. Atleast then we can small claims them. I just want some justice. |

I would call 1. The newspaper and 2. The Humane Society in that area and I would NOT LET IT GO. How can the police say there is nothing they can do about it. Something is wrong. Not to make lite of Lucy being shot but suppose that bullet hit a kid instead. I do not believe the right people were spoken to. The police have an obligation to investigate and find who did it. For one it is animal cruelty which is illegal. Elaine |
It is just so unacceptable to shoot a dog. I think if a neighbor shot one of my yorkies I would go postal and it would be in all the papers. I really would lose it. I think I would actually shoot the boy in my grief and claim insanity! Not shoot to kill just wound him...:) It is hard enough to protect our babies from everything with out worrying about a crazy neighborhood kid. Why would a kid have access to a gun anyway - maybe the parents need to be shot too. I'm soooo sorry for the loss of this poor baby. |
Some monster in our town recently set a live dog on fire. It had to be put down due to it's injuries. People are sick! If this kid is killing animals for fun, they have got a real sicko on their hands. |
I was so shocked and disgusted to hear about this. I'm so sorry. Can you tell me what neighborhood/cross streets roughly? I live in Thornton. I had a huge fight with a neighbor a couple years ago. Afterward I had to supervise my Yorkies in the yard. I'd glimpsed him throwing metal stakes and stuff in my yard. I was afraid he'd try to hurt them. |
I am so sorry to hear this. What monster do you live near. Please don't let the just sit. Go after the sicko and have him/her locked up. I'd be posting reward signs up everywhere with this info and your address. I would make it so hot for that creep, they would have to get out of town. |
Oh, what a sick person that has to be!How could they?? I am so sorry for you and your sister's loss Hugs to you both! |

Good suggestions!! It won't bring the baby back- but it might help to save some others! Something has to be done! |
Oh, yes! Call someone on the newspaper staff and ask them to stop by and ask them to do this story and have pictures of her little Lucy so they can publish them, too. You have to start somewhere and when the police don't act, then they need a little push! |
GeeMenie Christmas!!!!! I can not believe someone would do such a thing!!! How terrible! I'm so so sorry! RIP Sweet Baby |

My mouth once again hit the floor after reading this....my gawd, how do people come up with such horrible things to do to such wonderful innocent creatures. We are so blessed to have these four-legged companions in our lives. It hurts my heart to think of them suffering and being treated so cruely. :cry2: |
The Connection between animal abuse and violent crimes The Awful Connection With our increased awareness, we have also discovered that there is a terribly frightening connection between cruelty toward animals as children and violent crimes toward humans later in life. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has this to say: Researchers, as well as the FBI and other law enforcement agencies nationwide, have linked animal cruelty to domestic violence, child abuse, serial killings, and to the recent rash of killings by school-age children, according to Dr. Randall Lockwood, vice president of Training Initiatives for The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). It is no secret to us in this age of enlightenment that the likes of Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, and David Berkowitz all delighted in torturing animals before moving on to human prey. Sadly, many adult serial killers may have also suffered abuse as children. In a study of 57 families being treated for incidents of child abuse, 88% also abused animals. In two-thirds of the cases, it was the abusive parent who had killed or injured the animals to control a child. In one-third, the children had abused the animals, using them as scapegoats for their anger. (Quoted from The American Humane Association) In the case of the Columbine shootings, these boys did not even wait until adulthood. They graduated from animal abuse to killing their classmates as teenagers. The same pattern apparently existed among the killings attributed to Kip Kinkel, 15, of Oregon; Mitchell Johnson, 13, and Andrew Golden, 11, of Jonesboro Arkansas; and Luke Woodham, 16, of Pearl, Mississipi. |
If there is anything I can do please let me know. I live in Arvada but a good friend of mine lives near Standley Lake in the Countryside subdivision. I take my boys there all the time to run in the backyard. |
I am so sorry !!!!!!!!!!! |
So sorry for your sister's loss.....I hope you and your family get justice, for the injustice done to you! Hopefully, with your mother pursuing this, it will save other animals as well.......this boy sounds as if he is a serial killer in the making! |
I just want to tell everyone how much I appreciate your kind words. I was just talking to my sister, she started crying to think of how many people care. My mom had been waiting around for a call from the animal control. They left her a message saying we sent someone there yesterday there is nothing else we can do. My mom left them another message saying that was not good enough and to call her back. They (animal control) called her again...they again were trying to wipe there hand clean of the situation. But my mom confronted the officer saying isn't it a felony to kill/torture a animal in colorado. The officer didn't respond, but there was a card in the door from the officer when my mom went back to check on the house. I am going to call an abuse investigation service for the state tomorrow. I hope we find some answers |
What a HORRIBLE thing for someone to do!!!! I am so sorry for your sisters loss, actually your whole family, I can imagine this has upset everyone throughout the whole family. I hope whoever did this s caught and has to answer for what they did. Rest in peace lil one. |
What a tragedy! I hope you and your family are able to pursue a more further investigation into this as if it was this young neighbor, now is the time to stop him before he does this again...or worse! If law enforcement doesn't respond to your satisfaction then, definitely the media is a next step to bring public awareness to this situation. Good luck to your family and again, sorry for your loss :( |
I am so sorry I am so sorry to hear about this horrible incident! I am sick to my stomach to think someone especially a kid would do something like this! Please do contact the media like others had suggested. I think this will bring attention to the matter and prevent another horrible incident like this ever happening again. I hope you do find the person responsible for it.... the person need to be responsible and ensure he understands the pain he had caused for you and your family. My heart goes out to you since I have loss my Yorkie recently so I know how very hard this must be. My prayers are with you and please take care. |
I am so terribly sorry to hear that someone would have the guts to kill a harmless creature, that was so loved by her family, but to do something like that, and now the authorities won't do anything is simply just wrong, what message is this sending to other creeps out there??? I am thinking about your family and I hope you get justice over your sisters wee one! |
Only a sick, sick person could do something like this. Something needs to be done to bring him to justice before he does another horrible thing. So sorry to hear of such a horrible act on a poor helpless little animal. RIP little one |
i would go around the neighborhood and tell everyone whats going on right in their town.. the neighbors on the whole block would know thats for sure.. |
My mom just back from the vets. She had an xray done on Lucy. There wasn't a bullet still in her neck. But there was a potential exit wound in her ear. He said that in order to go all the way through the neck it would have to of been .22 bullet. He said with the trajectory it would have had to hit the concrete then it to the underside of her neck. But with out a bullet it didn't make it conclusive a bullet wound. He said it could possibly of been a large bird. Or it also could of been another animal. Like her other dog, a rat terrier, they would like to play rough with each other. but he also pointed out her neck wasn't broken, which would have been likely. In my heart of hearts I think it was the boy, why would the aunt lie to the police saying he wasn't there, when he was. And why would she of gotten rid of him right after the incident. But I guess it also clears him, kinda. I guess its just time to leave it. Thanks to all of you for your support. It really means alot. |

I think you should search every inch of the backyard for that bullet. |
This makes me so ****** pissed off. A beautiful animal, someones beloved pet, is killed by a kid**** That kid is headed for some serious trouble. Doing something like that and getting away with it .Makes me ill. The scary thing about it is the other animals your sister have are now in danger. That mother***** kid is getting away with it, and I fear that if he does he could do it again. I blame the adults in the kids house. He should not have access to a gun in the first place. :aimeeyork I feel like vomiting , it discusses me so much. |
Oh L***:( It amazes me how deep in the darkness a so called human being can go - feeling pleasure in hurting or taking the life of a defenceless creature... My heart goes out to you and your family... |
