I am so sorry your terrible loss is being compounded by the rift with your family. I hope you are able to find peace and use your family as a source of comfort. You are living the nightmare we all fear will happen to our babies. |
I am so sorry. I am not a person that is very good at words especially when it comes to emotions but I can imagine if I am being put in the same position, how it may feel. May Scooter rest in peace. |
I am so sorry for your beloved Scooter. You did the right thing by PTS and doubt he could have survived surgery. As for your brother's dog, I would be thinking about my child next. If the dog is trained to kill small animals, what is the difference with your daughter? Shameful that your parents don't see this threat which is lurking. Jumping an 8 foot fence says a lot about the dog. Personally, I would want to him PTS because I doubt he can be retrained. Shaking my head because danger awaits anyone or anything on the other side of the 8 foot fence. Warmly, Deborah |
I'm so sorry you have to go through all this :( Reading your story I'm holding back the tears. You had a tough decision to make, but you did the right thing. It's no fair for Scooter to be in so much pain. Regaurding the german shepard, I would call animal control. Even if it is your brothers dog, this dog already killed one of your babies, and like you said, your worried about your daughters safety. What if he attacks another dog in the neighborhood? I know it'll be a hard thing to do, but if your family isn't doing anything, I would take it into my own hands and call the animal control. Better to be safe than sorry. I'll keep you in my prayers that your able to make it though such a difficult time. |
I am so sorry I know how you feel because my Dior was also killed by another dog. Please hold your anger about doing something yourself..... The dog that killed my Dior was release back to the owner ( so I know your anger) but I am going to suit the heck out of her! Its not about the $ at all.. its about teaching other how to be responsible. Because of their actions they caused so much pain that are unnecessary! I wanted the dog owner to know she changed by life .... the pain and sorrow won't even begin to described the loss. Please call the animal control and report the case so that its well documented and what happened to your baby can save others. PLEASE PLEASE KEEP YOUR Daughter away from the dog....... thats the first thing you can do to protect your love one. I had to learn the hard way ..... I wish I knew but if what happened prevents more tragedies .... it will comfort us in time. My prayers are with you to comfort you and I know there is nothing that anyone can say to make you feel better but continue to share and vent... we are all here to support. |

So sorry for your loss...I don\'t even know what to say about your brother and parents...just stay strong and Good Luck. |
Thank you all so much for your words of comfort and encouragement. It is comforting to know that I do not have to go through this alone. I am still struggling with this, as can be expected. Yesterday, my two year old was outside calling Scooter and asking where he was. I just broke down. I know she doesn\'t understand why he is not here and it\'s so hard to not be able to tell her anything other than he went bye bye. The first vet that I took Scooter to called this morning to check on him and I had to tell them the news. I think that they really thought he would make it. As far as the other dog goes, he is still alive and being protected by my father and my brother. My mom on the other hand hates the dog and always has and SAYS she believes he should be destroyed, yet she still defends my brother\'s actions of making him violent. She says there is nothing she can do because it is not her dog and there is no animal control in our county. My dad put up electric fence to keep him contained and he thinks that will fix the problem. I told them that the LEAST they could do is get the dog neutered but they won\'t even do that because they say he is too big to take anywhere! The last time they took this dog to the vet, which has been YEARS, he tried to bite the vet!!!! I don\'t know WHY they cannot see what this dog is capable of. They also have another german shepherd and he attacks and HURTS him ALL the time. To add to the list, we had a 17 year old smaller german shepherd and this SAME dog attacked him and he died a few months later. The vet told them it was normal for a dog to attack a weak old dog. I am at such a loss here because nobody seems to care. I don\'t know what I can do other than sue them and then not have a place to live because my husband has been going through job trouble for the past 3 years and his job right now is not stable. Me and my husband have made it clear that my daughter will no longer be able to stay here with them when we are not present because we can\'t take the risk of her being attacked. I can\'t do anything to my brother either because he is only 15 and I\'m sure my parents would get charged with whatever the consequences would be. This is so frustrating. |
I\'m so sorry. RIP little Scooter. :( |
Soo sorry for your loss. |
Although I do believe that the shepard was jsut doing what he was taught I feel he should be out down before he harms anything else. or else placed with a dog trainer and/or behaviour expert. |
Oh just imagining the thought of that huge dog over scooter makes me shudder . . poor baby . . .I can only imagine what you were going through as you witness this helpless angel get trampled and killed before your very eyes. I often stay away from this section as my heart always is in pain at so many of our beloved furbabies horrific stories of death . . :( Please be strong . .and i will pray you overcome this grief. :( |
