Sad News
 

Today I had to have my eldest dog Zack put to sleep. He'd been ill on and off for a while with this and that. He was practically blind and deaf, had diabetes, arthritis He'd had blood tests several times but it only showed a slight raised level for his kidneys nothing that the vet was alarmed about. But he developed a foul smell in his breath very suddenly as his appetite wained a little. I feared kidney problems but he still was eating and was active around the house but he rapidly deteriorated over the weekend and wasn't eating so he had a blood test again and it confirmed he was in kidney failure. I could see it in him he'd given up and knew he'd had enough and the kindest thing I could do for him was to let him go peacefully. I stayed with him while he slipped away and said my goodbyes. I shall bury his ashes in the garden once I get them back.

I miss him terribly and it seems so strange without him here. He was two months short of his sixteenth birthday and I'd had him since he was 10 weeks old. I have many treasured memories of him and I have to remember he had a good life.

I too am so sorry for your loss. They sound like such empty words when you face the devastation of losing one of our precious babies but my heart truly is broken for you. Big Hugs and I hope you find comfort in knowing he isnt suffering .

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my 10 year old Evey on Valentine's Day. I had to let her go the same way and I stayed with her until the end. They are not suffering anymore. They are healthy again and running around like puppies again. Stay strong and know that you'll be with him again some day.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my first Yorkie to kidney failure at the age of 13 years and two months. When they are older, it hits them hard and fast.
It's so heartbreaking to let thm go.

My condolences on the passing of your baby. It's definitely one of the hardest things we ever have to deal with.

I am so sorry for your loss. I dread the day. I lost my lil maltese Spike in Oct of 06 and I still feel it. They tip toe into our lives and then leave heavy footprints all over our hearts. God bless

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss! you had your baby for many years- I sure it is breaking your heart fter all the years!

Kidney failure is the hardest. I put one of my cats to sleep last year when we found out at the vet she was in the first stages. She had been with me since I was a teenager and was going on fourteen years old. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thanks everyone for your kind words - its very touching. It's truly heartbreaking feeling his loss and not seeing him around anymore but time is a healer they say and I will trust in that.

I like to believe in Rainbow Bridge and I hope that we meet up again one day.
