This message is not about my new Yorkie puppy, Walker. This is about my almost 17 yr. old Lhasa Apso, Max. We finally made the decision today to put him down. I'm so sad...you can't imagine. I've had this dog for so long and have tons of memories of trips he has taken with me and things we have done together and to watch him suffer through every breath right now just breaks my heart! I can do nothing but cry and sit here and pet him and spend his last few hours with him. We're going to the vet this afternoon and I will be there for him one last time. I hope there really is a Rainbow Bridge. Max was a good dog and he deserves a place like that. I just have such a tough time letting him go! Oh, man....this sucks! Why does it have to hurt so bad? Sorry, I'm bringing you guys down...

Oh honey I wish I could make it better but I can't except to tell you
to remember the memories the two of you made together and hold him
gently and kiss him before he goes to Rainbow Bridge. He will get comfort
from you and you from him. Yes I believe there is such a place. They
deserve to be happy and healthy in the after life. Remember all the fun
he has waiting for him and all the new friends he will make.

Oh my goodness....
In my heart I am sure there is a Rainbow Bridge and I know that he will be there waiting for you. This is such a hard and painful thing to do, but the most loving also. Bless you and Max and I will keep you both in my prayers...

I can feel the pain you are having, it just brings tears to my eyes. I'm sorry you have to let your sweet baby go. This must be such a hard decision you have to make. But I do believe there really is a rainbow bridge. And I know Max will be watching over you from above. In a way you are lucky you get to say your good-byes and tell him how much you love him. I wish I would have got to tell my Kloey one last goodbye and give her one last kiss.
You will be in my prayers, I will virtually be holding your hand, along with all your YT friends.

About 20 minutes after posting my initial message about Max, he passed away in my arms and at home instead of the vets office. I could feel his little heart until it stopped and kissed him good-bye for the last time. I wrapped him in a towel and held him until it was over and cried, cried, cried.....
It was peaceful though---no pain. Except for mine. Puppy Walker and my other Lhasa Bailey sat by my side on the floor. I'm sure they knew what was going on and were trying to be there for me. What a sad day.....
I took the day off from work to be with Max and I'm glad I did. How awful would it have been if he would have died all alone in the kennel? I'm grateful that I had these last moments with him, even though my heart is breaking with pain. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts!!! Besides my husband I couldn't reach anybody in my family to share my grief with. Thank you for being there!

Ahh, that breaks my heart. But you were with him.. and he felt safe and loved. His puppy family was with him too.. ahhh.

You had a long time together..how wonderful.
I'm sorry you have to deal with this pain.. I know it..and it does hurt. :(

I am so sorry for your loss. :cry8: Sounds like Max went peacefully and he got to pass away in his home with you holding him. Rest in Peace, dear Max.:angelyork Yes, I do believe their is a Rainbow Bridge and Max will be waiting there for you when it's your time also.

It sounds like Max had a very peaceful passing and was exactly where he wanted to be ...surrounded by all those he loved and cherished.

I do believe that all dogs go to Heaven & we will see them again. I am so very sorry about Max. How special that you could hold him, kiss him & say goodbye at your home. There are no words for your sorrow, just know others are praying for you. Kay

I am so sorry for the pain you are feeling and for the loss of your beloved Max. It seems more fitting that it happened peacefully at home with you and his fur friends by his side rather than at the vet's office, though that doesn't make it any easier to bear.

You had a chance to say goodbye and to be there for him, loving him and helping him to sleep peacefully.

Right now, you will feel the pain will never ever go away. We are all here for you to help you through this most difficult time.

Your other little ones, will help you to cope, and help you to get through each moment, each minute, each hour and each day.

They will give you the strength to smile again, Max would want that for you.
For you to be happy again, like you made him.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I bet it does help that you were with him and he wasn't alone. I still get teary-eyed when I try to talk about my toy poodle, Daxton, who was 16 years old when he passed away almost 4 years ago. In fact, I was talking to our vet a couple weeks ago regarding my daughter working in his clinic and when he asked about Tatum and I tried to thank him again for all of his kind words when Dax passed, I literally started crying and couldn't speak. The pain does lessen but the memories will always be with you.

I am so sorry for the pain that you are going through right now but try to remember all the love that you have shared with your little Max and the joy that you have brought to each other and know that he will always be with you no matter where you are.


And yes there is a :rainbow: and that is where he will be running and playing and doing all of his favorite things and he will be there watching over you until you are once again reunited with him.

Max let you know, and you both knew it was time. You were ready to make the tough decision.

I am sooooooo sorry :( I know it hurts.
We had our 16 y.o. Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Chloe, put down on Valentine\'s Day, 3 years ago and it was heart breaking.

Hopefully all our doggies who have passed over are playing together at the Rainbow Bridge. You\'re right, they deserve that.
