I have goose bumps......I am so sorry that is very sad....

You said this so perfect, I remember when I lost pooh.. I did the same thing, layed in bed, and tried bury myself. I could not eat, when I talked I had a lump in my throat that hurt so badly it felt like some one stabbing me with a knife right into my throat.. I was like a lost sole, never again to ever see that look he gave me, the way I he layed on a blanket with his pigs ear, and I had to cover him up, so the other dogs could not see he had a pigs ear..
He was the light and the love of my life. I did move on, never to find another pooh, but did find that love again. 4 years later, I still so miss him, especially at times like this when I hear of others going through what I did, it brings back those memories.
MY vet killed my pooh, gave him shots that he had an allergic reaction to, the next year, the same vet gave him the same needle and it was fatal..I learned a great hard lesson that day..

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience quite a few years ago, it also was a terrible accident, and one tends to blame themself. I constantly asked myself what I could have done differently to have prevented it. I would get up in the morning, only to head for the couch and lay there and cry. Before the week was out, my son brought me the sweetest little puppy, and I realized that I had to get up and give it the care and love and attention that it deserved. Although I will never forget the little one that I lost, there is nothing better to heal the shock and the pain and sorrow, than holding a warm little puppy in your arms.
Only you can make that decision, but I'm certain you won't be sorry.

I can't believe I'm just now seeing this thread. Beth, I am so very sorry for your loss. It was also the hardest for me to cover my Daxton's grave when we buried him and like others have said, I was a complete mess for days after his death. I did follow my heart though and found Tatum just a couple weeks later and while I will NEVER forget Dax (I still think of him all the time and it's been 3 years), Tatum has filled a void that I couldn't even imagine could be so large. Follow your heart also..... everyone handles these things differently and only you know what you can manage. Again, please know that I am thinking of you and your family. It sounds like Lulu was very much loved.

Yes, I agree a New puppy will fill the void It won't replace the other one but the healing will be better. You will have some thing to HOLD and love again.

I am so sorry about your little girl. I am also sorry I have not seen this post until now. I have been so consumed with my own grief over Delilah that I have not been reading any other post. How horrible it must have been to witness that! I am thankful I did not have to see any harm come to my baby but at the same time, not knowing is killing me.

It seems as if 2008 has started badly for us both. Let's hope that something will change that for us both.

Tissy i know exactly how you feel i had a small 15 year old mix breed that went out to potty one day and i never seen her again and it killed me not knowing what happened to her whether someone took her or a big dog got a hold of her or what happened it killed me and it was 2 days before my hubby's birthday and here i am laying around crying the whole time well the day after his birthday he says come on you are going with me of course i didn't want to but i did it for him and he takes me to a breeder of minpins and of course as soon as i held that pup i was in love and 3 1/2 years later i still have my little Skeeta but i can't say that i don't still miss Chiquita and there is a place in my heart that belongs to her and only her and it will always be that way.....And you know she is also the reason i got a yorkie my daughter was talking about them all the time so i went online to look at them and that was it i was in love because their faces remind me so much of Chiquita. Ok sorry was getting off the subject a bit there but Tissy it will get easier hun trust me and it is amazing what a new little one can do for you it def. brings you back up fast so good luck and i hope you find a new baby soon.
