Do Dogs go to Heaven? I've noticed many of you are Christians and I just have to ask you...do you know if dogs go to heaven? I've searched through the bible on many occasions and just can't find any evidence that our pets go to heaven. My Chewy just turned 14 yesterday - so he's getting up in age and on Thanksgiving we had to take him to the hospital and found out he has kidney disease (in addition to periodontal disease). He's doing well now and you'd never know he had these diseases, but I feel like this is God's way of preparing me for the inevitable....afterall, he's been my baby and buddy for his whole life! I just don't know if I'll be able to handle it when it does happen. I just need to know that he'll go to heaven and I'll be able to see him again. I appreciate your insights... |
I don't know the answer to your question, and I don't believe anyone really knows the answer. My Dad and I had this discussion on several occassions, and I always said it wouldn't be heaven to me if they didn't, but Daddy always said that Heaven is a happy place where we wouldn't remember the sad things we face on earth. He also said that he didn't think we would remember each other (as daughter, brother, Mother or Daddy)...I always said that it would make me unhappy not to recognise my loved ones. Especially now, I lost my Dad 5 years ago and I grieve for him every day. I miss him more than anyone will ever know. |
I believe they do go to heaven. God does say everything you need will be given to you when you go to heaven, and I need my babies, so I'm sure they'll be there. |
Jody - Thanks for your reply... Jody: I too lost my dad (Aug 2006) and my mom (Dec 2005) and the only thing that keeps me going is knowing that I'll see them again in Heaven. I believe that we'll recognize/know loved ones up there - the bible says so. However, it does say that we will no longer be "married" in heaven. (i.e., my husband Brad will be simply "another loved one" in heaven and not my "spouse"). That's how I understand it. I too miss my father sooo much - I was "Daddy's girl" and I'm like a carbon copy of him! I know how much it hurts but I also know we'll see them again thanks to Jesus! I just have to know that my Chewbud will go to though! |

I truly believe that ,yes ,we will see and identify our loved ones. How many times have you heard seeing the light and a loved one waiting for someone? There are special masses at times to bless the animals. If God did not allow them in heaven he would not want them blessed. To answer your question, IMO, yes you will once again see your loved ones and your beloved pets. |

YES!! |
I'm sure they do. I can't wait to see my Cindy, Candy and Chicco again, and it makes me feel good to know that they will be there to meet Coco and Coffee when their time comes. |

I believe that souls are pure love and do not have form. All souls go to heaven and we will surely recognize and connect with the souls we have loved in our lifetime here on earth. |
I have no evidence to give you ..... but then, except for a book that says so, I have no evidence to give you that there is a GOD either. But, I know there is.....I have FAITH that there is. I have FAITH that my parents, brother and all of my little fur-babies that I have lost in my 55 years will be there. I have more people on the other side, then I have with me now. My children ask me how I know this and can I prove it. Nope...I cant...but I have FAITH...and when you have FAITH.....you have everything. Just reach deep down and find yours....then you will know that THEY WILL BE THERE. Wishing you peace, Kathy |

I believe that families are forever! Here's a link to what I believe. http://www.mormon.org/mormonorg/eng/...ernal_marriage |
I KNOW they go to heaven. They MUST! I promised my Ginger that I will see her again and mommy always kept her promises. It was the only way I could let her go... knowing that I would see her again. and I WILL! I must have that faith! |
Here is an excerpt from an article: “Says one, ‘I cannot believe in the salvation of beasts.’ Any man who would tell you this could not be, would tell you that the revelations are not true. John heard the words of the beast giving glory to God, and understood them. God who made the beasts could understand every language spoken by them. The beasts were four of the most noble animals that filled the measure of their creation, and had been saved from other worlds, because they were perfect. They were like angels in their sphere. We are not told where they came from, and I do not know; but they were seen and heard by John praising and glorifying God.” (DHC, vol. 5, pp. 343–44.) found here: http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.js...____&hideNav=1 The scriptures tell us that all living things will be resurrected. Boy, I sure don't want to go where the mosquitos, go.:D |
I was told by many different sources (Sunday school teachers, teachers at my Christian school etc) that no, they don't, they just turn to dust. After being told that at the age of 5, no wonder I decided religion wasn't for me. |
If any soul is worthy of Heaven, then certainly dogs MUST qualify! |
I believe they do well, I am Catholic....and the priest at our church recommends ALL dogs own or wear St. Francis charms! We even have days that are Pet blessing days where u can bring your animal in and they are blessed with holy water :) I think if ther is a Saint who dedicated his life to protecting animals as St. Francis did then they must go to heaven...why else would they be blessed??? But again these are my beliefs... Here is some facts about St. Francis to maybe help you believe or see another view! Saint Francis of Assisi (September 26, 1181 – October 3, 1226) was a Roman Catholic friar and the founder of the Order of Friars Minor, more commonly known as the Franciscans. He is known as the patron saint of animals, birds, and the environment, and it is customary for Catholic churches to hold ceremonies honoring animals around his feast day of October 4. |

It wouldn't be heaven without dogs :) |
Sure, Why Not? I think so because a heaven without dogs for a crazy dog lover like me could not be called heaven... I understand your sorrow. |

I, personally, believe that, as perfect as these little angels are, there's no way God doesn't have a special place waiting for them also. |

I definately BELIEVE and share this same FAITH as you do. God is LOVE and HE is our EVERYTHING. I BELIEVE with all my heart and being that one day we will be together in Heaven and with our loved ones there, our beloved pets will be also. I have been reading the posts and hesitate on posting myself, but after reading your post Kathy, it enlightened me to post my feelings here too. In my own personal life, I am not of any one denomination or religion but have accepted God into my life and HIS SON JESUS as my own personal saviour, through out my child hood I struggled with religion as such, but then God helped me to put all in its own perspective and I am forever grateful in knowing all that HE has given unto me to understand, that through my FAITH AND BELIEF that my heart lives on in content and knowing one day, YES we shall once again hold our Cassie and our Gretta and our Nicki, FOREVER IN ETERNITY. I am so thankful to know that as Jack and I are nearing the time of life when our lives will become a memory to so many that we will go on to be in our Eternal home with all our loved ones there and all the precious pets God so Blessed us with in this lifetime, HEAVEN IS TO BE FOREVER. Sometimes I find it difficult to express myself so I hope others here can feel and understand what I have just said. Sincerely from my heart, Patti and Jack |
Poem I Wrote In Feb. 2007 Time Time is not just a minute or another day, It's a life time of memories stashed away. So many of those memories that we hold dear, Far too many shed many a tear. Our faith and belief will see us through, God walks with us daily with me and you. The path we choose is ours for the taking, The joys he gave us was his in the making. Hold on to the treasured gifts that he so willingly gave, Assuring us of eternity and wanting us all to be saved. One day together in heaven we'll be, The promise of life forever for you an me. Hold onto the memories forever to cherish, Those we hold dear never really did perish. Time goes on beyond with abundant treasure, Forever with you what blissful pleasure. Time waits for no one, it goes by so fast, What we encounter in loving one another is what will last. Take hold and feel the warmth of the sun and wind blowing, Together what waits beyond for us is knowing. Life's treasures are beyond what life holds in store, Heaven has to offer ever so much more. Our precious ones God has in his care, Giving back to him was so hard to bare. Hold on to this time if God wants it to be so, Time doesn't stand still and he wants you to know. Time isn't just to be here for another minute or a day, It's a lifetime in Eternity forever with him to stay. Thank you Lord for allowing this to be, For each of us, you, you and me. Original Poem Written by me, Patti, on Febuary 2,2007 This is one of many poems I have written and posted here in the RIP section, each being that I was inspired to do so in memory of our Precious Cassie. Sorry for the double post, I did try to get it with the other, not quick enough to copy and paste it :) Wishing each and everyone a wonderful day, Patti and Jack |
