Thanks Lexi! I was out there doing some research and a friend helped me out in finding this. I suggest if anyone finds any usefulness to the link, please save it because we dont know how long this info might stay online. |
Great post! I have the book this excerpt came from "Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies". Its nice to have if you dont want to buy the whole book.:) |
Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a wonderful thing to have. I appreciate it greatly. I downloaded it and saved it in my doggie folder. Thanks again for posting this. |
This is Great !!!! Trying to get my lil one used to being brushed everynight...she is still fighting me, but I'm hoping that as she gets older and more used to it she will get better....:p |
thank you so much.. |
I don't see anything..... |
:goodpost: |
Thank for the info.... |
Great find!!!!!!!!! |
I just started to read this and I have to say I was really surprised. I just read a part that said before grooming put MINERAL OIL in their eye. That is something I can't do. I would think that could cause problems eventually. I just cover his eyes with my hand when I am trimming around his head. |
Thankyou, I needed to learn how to trim the ears and this really helped. Now if I can get the top knot right...lol:aimeeyork |
Very cool! Thanks! :) |
When to start? Thanks for the link to the grooming info. I have a four month old male who is adorable. When should I take him to the groomers? He lets me clip the hair around his ears but the hair around his eyes is beginning to look "ratty". He's got half his puppy coat and the other half is changing. I'd send a picture, but he's mostly black and the pics. don't show up good. |
The grooming tips.... Thanx for the grooming tips guide it has helped out. I have only had my shorkie for a little over a month and have had to learn how to deal with the grooming situation as her coat can become matted quite quickly if not brushed daily. SO thanx a million! |
Thank you.. |
Tails??? This information is great - but I'm wondering about grooming tails. I have not taken my furbabies to the groomers in at least a year because everytime, I did they would trim up the beards and face hair too much and mine have long coats. I've tried to trim them up myself, but I haven't trimmed their tails because I don't know what a tail on a yorkie with a long coat should look like. lol- I can't remember what the groomer did with their tails. Can anyone help me? |
Grooming her coat can become matted quite quickly if not brushed daily. Daily brushing is an excellent routine for good coat and skin health. My sister found a conditioner (used after shampooing) that really makes daily combing so much easier as it prevents the mats from forming. It is "Gold Medal Formula 30". I used it for the first time on the week end and am totally impressed.:) Have a Great Day |
aww wow, i havent had much time to look at it yet, but it looks good! thanks |
Thanks for the information. |

Newbee I am new to Yorkies ands new to having a dog. I adopted a 3 yr old from a family member. The dog was showing off because of a nw baby. I already knew the dog so I was so excited to get him. He has been a joy. I am looking for tips on giving the best care. Im taking him to vet and groomers this week but the best tips come from those who do it every day.:aimeeyork |
I read that whole thing... And all I can say is.....:animal37 Chrissy!!!!! Are you still a groomer at Petsmart!!!!! |
Thank you so much for that site about grooming your yorkie. Duncan loves to be brushed but the teeth are another thing. I have done simple trimming of his coat but I would like to do more. The nails I have tried but he screams like you wouldn't believe when he sees the clippers. I have not ever hurt him cause I can't even get him to stay still long enough to try. I will try the teeth again now that I have read all about it. thanks |
