Interested in a Meet-Up in SE, Michigan?
 

Hi everyone-
Sissy and I haven't yet met any YT'ers and we would like to get to know some of you and your babies. We have a really nice park (Elizabeth Park) in Trenton right along the Detroit River. There is lots of shade, water and bathrooms and nice scenery usually with lots of recreational boats going by. Elizabeth Park is part of the Detroit Metro-Park facilities, but there is no entrance fee.

Trenton is about 15 miles South of Detroit, miles North of Toledo, and 35 miles East of Ann Arbor. For you Canadians in Ontario, Windsor is just across the Ambassador bridge from Detroit - so add on however far you are from Windsor.

I don't have a specific date in mind, just thought I'd see how many were interested and if this location works and take it from there!

I would be interested. Jeter and I haven't met anyone from YT either, but would love to soon. Let's see if we can't get some additional interest. I know there is a meet-up planned for the Clio area next month, but that is a bit far.

YT'ers - neither the Windsor nor Toledo areas are too far away either!!

I'd be in... but it's too far away! I haven't seen too many YTers from WI or MI. I can probably count on one hand the number of active members in our states!

maybe we should figure out where some of us are from.. and then plan a meet up in a central area, hopefully it has a park... or what not... then we can get together..
I'm in Holland... We have a dog park here.. my house isn't humungous, but it'd fit people and yorkies I have a fenced in back yard...

I know there is going to be a meet-up on July 15th in Clio. I am busy that day or I would go even though it is a little far.

If we can't arrange something soon, check out the thread under Yorkie Fair in Michigan for next May. It will be just outside of Ann Arbor, so still a drive for many of you - but a weekend affair with dog friendly everything.

I think we should make a strong YT presence at the Yorkie Fair. There seem to be many of us in Michigan (although all over the place) and I still contend that for you folks who make yorkie products, this would be a write-off for your businesses and a great chance to meet lots of folks!

I'll talk to my H about the Clio one... It's 2 1/2 hrs for me.. but maybe he'll say it's ok... I'll probably go to the fair next year too, but yeah.. umm, do you know any details about the Clio meetup?

It will be July 15th at 1 pm in Clio. It is being put on by Sarah. You can email her at sarahvine@charter.net for info. It sounds great, but don't know if I will make it.

If you guys can't make it to the July meet up in Clio the next one is Aug 26th at 1:30pm at my house in Montrose (which is right next to Clio). If I have your guys emails I will email you the info sometime later this month.

I know the park you are referring to, it's been about 20 years since I've been there tho, do they allow dogs there? Hi all you Michiganders!!!!

Since there at least a couple of you who might be interested - lets try again to arrange something for Elizabeth Park in Trenton. How do schedules look for Saturday, August 19 or Sunday, August 20. Dogs are very much allowed in Elizabeth Park. There is a nice boardwalk along the waterfront and lots of picnic tables and shade. We could simply meet, walk the dogs around the park and chat (it is about one mile around), or we can meet, sit, chat and let the dogs get to know each other as we do, too.

I know there is at least one person in Monroe, one in Dearborn and one in Belleville - so if we got together that would be a nice little meet up.

Also on 8/26, there is another Michigan Meet-up, this time slightly North of Flint. Sissy and I are planning on going so if you're interested and close by me, you are welcome to carpool with me.

Either Saturday or SUnday would work for me, unless I got called into work, which doesn't happen that often on either of those days. I have 2 yorkies to count into the group... Once plans are more def. I would need a map/directions of the area and exact location where we will meet ok. I've never done this before but my step daughter goes to dog parks all the time. I know they claim no toys because of fighting but I assume we bring their food in case??? And of course water & a bowl... Sounds like it will be a fun day. I have 3 other yorkies that live either on my block or around the block, not sure if they would be interested, they are not members here but if they are would it be ok to mention it to them??

But It is to small...maybe spring!! I have a nice fence in yard..

My house has "gone to the dogs" ha ha... literally, but they'll be happy, it is big enuf for a Christmas Party, fenced in yard, nothing to get in trouble with (until nighttime) I am afraid of them getting skunked or worse yet, meeting a posum yuk........... I bet Jodie is in for this too... She loves get togethers with the Yorkies:)

Anyone else? We can start the planning now. How about a grab bag for the Babies? Do we do boys for boys, girls for girls OR all just for Yorkies? I am excited already! Then you can do Spring!

You know I'm in!!!! Dec 9 or 10 sounds good to me, too!! I like the idea of a grab bag exchange as well. Let's get planning. We can each bring a dish. I know we have a few other "local" Michiganders on here as well as some NE Ohio and Windsor folks.

Staying over night for those of you fdriving far in OK.
I have one extra bedroom but we'll make more room if need be. We have tons of extra dishes, IAMS food, puppy & 1st year

Gift exchange ok, we'll have to get together in minds and decide what price range. For babies or us too?? Dishes to pass was DaisySiss & LuvMySissy's idea but if not I can order in. My kids are grown and gone so no one to interrupt our Doggie Deal ha ha......... Yorkie's borthers & sisters are welcome as well, as are kidlets. I'm not fussy.... I hope we have enuf room!!:eek: If not we'll squish or make room! My construction on the back is due to start Oct, if it's not complete, does anyone care? I don't. I am excited about a Yorkie Christmas Party:D I have plenty of wee wee pads, or for those of you that "flash" I have a fenced in backyard as well as a playpen-ed in front porch and hiopefully the back doggie porch will becompleted by then (depending on the weather - it should be) ok ideas welcomed and the planning is started:)

Hi, I live in Dearborn, Outer Drive & Monroe area (near Greenfield Village)
We have meet ups all the time either here or at Jodie's in Trenton. There are also some in St Johns that we go to and Flushing Michigan as well. The next one is in St Johns, a Valentines Victorian Tea Party at Christine's house. It is Feb 11th @2:00 if you are interested, in the meantime if you want to meet some of us local Yorkie Owners, let me know. Karla lives near by and so does Sheryl.
