Are tiny yorkie pups okay? Hi everyone! I just got my puppy Twinkle! She is super tiny. I was so amazed at how tiny she was. She looked so much bigger in pictures. She's going on 4 months old. She only weighs 1 lb 4 oz. I love her so much already, she is so precious. At almost 4 months and weighing on ly 1 lb 4 oz how much do you think she'll weigh when she reaches adulthood. Should I be worried about her health or anything else because of her size? Any suggestions would be great! :) |
She should stay very small...You have to be a lot more careful when they're that small, they tend to get hurt easier(stepped on, etc)..When is her b-day? Here's an easy chart to read, but, like with all the other charts, it' just an estimate.. http://pomderosaranch.com/ToyBreedWeightChart.htm |

My Bella is a tiny one and you really have to be super careful with them, their bones are like toothpicks. A small fall can be fatal, nothing I can do about her size at this point except hope she gains a bunch more weight. She is closing in on 5months old and weighs 2.10oz which is a far cry from the 1.2lbs she weighed when we got her. The one thing that you do need to watch out for with this little dogs (not only the tiny ones) is hypoglycemia. I'm assuming you already know this being that you already have the pup but if you don't then it would be good to read up on it and what to watch for and how to treat/prevent it from happening. Welcome to YT and congrats on your new baby, post pics!!! |
1 Attachment(s) this is twinkle. she looks a lot bigger in the picture. she is very tiny though. she loves running in between my feet. i almost stepped on her. i will upload more of her pictures later tonight. she fits nicely in your hand and she's almost 4 months old. |
Ahhh she is so cute and tiny:) best wishes to you both:) |
I have a little guy and I have him wear a bell at ALL times - it's just too dangerous for him otherwise. Marcel was the same weight at 4 mths - he is now 11 mths and is 2 lbs. 12 oz. and probably won't gain anymore. You have to REALLY be careful (at this age/wt) about her being on couches, chairs, beds - a fall could kill her at this point. Just be cautious. Congrats - she is ADORABLE. More pics please! :D |

Not only all the above, but you have to watch for hypoglycemia. Make sure she is eating enough and has regularily spaced meals throughout the day. Congratulations. she is beautiful. |
Congrats!!!!!! Wow! I thought Elphaba was tiny! She should at least get up to 4 lbs though. I agree with everyone else on being careful and the bell! She sneaks up on me and under my feet ALL the time. That and she plays kinda tough with the cats. I watch like a hawk cuz i'm so afraid of her getting hurt. |
Wow is your baby is tiny. I bet she will be 2 lbs as an adult. |

Welcome to YT. Shes a tiny one. I do notice that between the two of mine, Dakota 3 lbs at 5 months has more accidents than Aubrey. I think its just because she doesn't realize how small she really is. |
My baby is tiny also. He isn't even 2lbs yet and hes already almost 6 months old. He hasnt gotten hurt yet, but thats because I'm with him literally 24/7. I also put a little bell on his collar so I would know where hes at. Tiny yorkies tend to get sick easier also, so when winter comes bundle them up even more. |

2 Attachment(s) We got our Yorkie at 4 months also. She is now 5 months. I dont remember her looking that small, but she weighed 1.5 lbs at 4 months too. I just took her back to the vet Sat. and she now weighs 3.2 lbs, so she isnt going to stay as small aswe thought. Thats ok though. :) |
2 Attachment(s) Abby is 1.6 oz and she is 4 months. And she is super small too, but for some reason she likes to play rough with everything and everybody. She thinks she is boss... she is, LOL!:animal-pa |
4 Attachment(s) I have a pack-n-play (playpen) that has come in so handy. I don't let Maggie have the run of the house either. She's corralled in one room at a time for her own safety. And yes, Nutracal is a must !! She is sooooo flippin cute !!!!! Maggie was 1.2 at 10 weeks, she's at 1 13oz now at almost 23 weeks so no more than 2 -2 1/2 for your little one.(maybe) They do require extra attention I think because of their size and they have no clue that their as tiny as they are either. You should hear Maggie growl and bark at the UPS man !! lol here's Mags at 8, 10 & 12 wks old and now. Congratulations on your tiny lil furbaby. She will steal your heart and bring you so much joy :) |
aww she is just precious! Your very lucky to have such a pretty baby! |
She is really small. My London was like that weight at 4-5 months. So i think yours will stay really small. You have to m ake sure she eats and gets plenty of water and get nutrical. Just always keep an eye on her. Sometimes the little ones can have more accidents, like you might step on them, they can fall and get really hurt so be careful. |
She's adorable! My little Kamari will be a year the end of Novemeber and she was just weighed in at 3 lbs. I make sure I kept Nutrical for her and Kodak and he's 4 1/2 lbs now. I have her wear a bell on all her collars, I bought them in the cat section but I have to know when she's coming up behind me. |
I agree... put a bell on your little one. That's the first thing we did with Riley as she was that size when we brought her home. Even at 3 lbs and 1 year old now, she's still awfully tiny... and so quick underfoot! I rely on her multiple tags jingling to let me know where she is. |
Hello Kitty Bell I put bells on Georgia as well...and bought some very cute hello kitty bells on Ebay....they are sooooo cute! |
Hi there and :congrats: on your Baby I have a tiny one too ( not by choice) ... she was the last Girl and the smallest one out of the litter. She is almost 8 months and weights a little over 2.5 lbs. BUT SHE SHURE IS A CUTIE !!!! :D |

I got Tiffy at 6 months when she was about 2.1 pounds and now at 1 year old she is about 2 and a half. Best advise is to be sooooo careful with her wherever you go and make sure she does not fall because a tiny little limb is so much easier to fracture.. You have to make sure she eats and make sure she gets her Nutrical on a regular basis to avoid the hypoglycemia. She is beautiful, congrats!! |
What a tiny cutie she is, congrats:D And welcome to YT:) |
Twinkle is adorable. I like the bell idea, so you know where she is at all times. |
Awww she is so cute:p I have tennies to and I have bells on them at all times! I just do what is called the shuffle walk...LOL you will learn that soon:D |
Bella was the runt of the litter. When I first got her, she was less than a pound at 3 months. At 6 months, she was 2 pounds. The vet told me she'll be a very small dog ( under 5 pounds). I really wanted a yorkie under 3 pounds and thought for sure she was going to stay small. Well, she's full grown now at 6 pounds.I'm just happy she's a very healthy dog. =) |
