Are tiny yorkie pups okay? Hi everyone! I just got my puppy Twinkle! She is super tiny. I was so amazed at how tiny she was. She looked so much bigger in pictures. She's going on 4 months old. She only weighs 1 lb 4 oz. I love her so much already, she is so precious. At almost 4 months and weighing on ly 1 lb 4 oz how much do you think she'll weigh when she reaches adulthood. Should I be worried about her health or anything else because of her size? Any suggestions would be great! :) |
She should stay very small...You have to be a lot more careful when they're that small, they tend to get hurt easier(stepped on, etc)..When is her b-day? Here's an easy chart to read, but, like with all the other charts, it' just an estimate.. http://pomderosaranch.com/ToyBreedWeightChart.htm |

My Bella is a tiny one and you really have to be super careful with them, their bones are like toothpicks. A small fall can be fatal, nothing I can do about her size at this point except hope she gains a bunch more weight. She is closing in on 5months old and weighs 2.10oz which is a far cry from the 1.2lbs she weighed when we got her. The one thing that you do need to watch out for with this little dogs (not only the tiny ones) is hypoglycemia. I'm assuming you already know this being that you already have the pup but if you don't then it would be good to read up on it and what to watch for and how to treat/prevent it from happening. Welcome to YT and congrats on your new baby, post pics!!! |
1 Attachment(s) this is twinkle. she looks a lot bigger in the picture. she is very tiny though. she loves running in between my feet. i almost stepped on her. i will upload more of her pictures later tonight. she fits nicely in your hand and she's almost 4 months old. |
Ahhh she is so cute and tiny:) best wishes to you both:) |
I have a little guy and I have him wear a bell at ALL times - it's just too dangerous for him otherwise. Marcel was the same weight at 4 mths - he is now 11 mths and is 2 lbs. 12 oz. and probably won't gain anymore. You have to REALLY be careful (at this age/wt) about her being on couches, chairs, beds - a fall could kill her at this point. Just be cautious. Congrats - she is ADORABLE. More pics please! :D |

Not only all the above, but you have to watch for hypoglycemia. Make sure she is eating enough and has regularily spaced meals throughout the day. Congratulations. she is beautiful. |
Congrats!!!!!! Wow! I thought Elphaba was tiny! She should at least get up to 4 lbs though. I agree with everyone else on being careful and the bell! She sneaks up on me and under my feet ALL the time. That and she plays kinda tough with the cats. I watch like a hawk cuz i'm so afraid of her getting hurt. |
Wow is your baby is tiny. I bet she will be 2 lbs as an adult. |

Welcome to YT. Shes a tiny one. I do notice that between the two of mine, Dakota 3 lbs at 5 months has more accidents than Aubrey. I think its just because she doesn't realize how small she really is. |
My baby is tiny also. He isn't even 2lbs yet and hes already almost 6 months old. He hasnt gotten hurt yet, but thats because I'm with him literally 24/7. I also put a little bell on his collar so I would know where hes at. Tiny yorkies tend to get sick easier also, so when winter comes bundle them up even more. |
