This is rather a broad complaint. I totally agree with you in theory but after having just gotten another puppy and having had some very trying moments over the last 4 days I can empathize with people having complaints. Now as far as potty training- that's silly because no puppy is anywhere near potty trained at 12 weeks and everyone who gets a puppy should realize that. But I know I'm having a hard time because my 8 month old isn't quite ready to accept our new 11 week old puppy. I think it's partly because Pumpkin (the new one) barks and Roo's not used to that so it upsets her. Plus Roo was just in the emergency vet over the weekend and though the vet said it was fine to go ahead with the new puppy it's been a lot of stress. However, now that I'm feeling a little less stressed I'm starting to get very attached to the new puppy and would never give her up if I could help it! I'm not trying to be the odd person out but I was thinking that this was a place for people to chat and definitely talking about my problems helps me get over them. That said I would never get rid of a puppy for potty training issues. I now have 3 dogs and even my 4 year old Rotti has very very rare accidents (like once or twice a year) and I wouldn't trade her for the world! Anyway don't want to start any contraversy or anything just saying that talking about things can be a good way to get stress out and get a lot of positive feedback to help you perservere even when you feel really down about a situation! |
I have to agree. I read these posts and think "my God! Give it a chance!!" Obviously they know nothing about puppies, let alone yorkie puppies, and did not do any research. Kind of like when you're a little kid and you bring a puppy home and say "pleeease mom" without having any idea what is involved in owning a puppy or doggie. I try not to comment those posts but its hard.... |
I hope y'all aren't referring to people like me who have had to ask for help with training. As most of you know I'm getting help with training my Cocoa |

Maya sounds like Gracie although Gracie is 4 yrs old. She will pee in the house when she is mad. It happens very very rarely but when she wants to make a point she'll go right in front of me. She never had "accidents", she is very good with going outside, these are "on purposes". I am obviously not a brilliant dog trainer.:p My point to those who are complaining about their dog (not you Mayas Mommy- you know the ones I mean;) ) is that I am perfectly aware that it is MY fault. It is not Gracie's fault in any way. I did not train her properly. If you are at your wits end with your dog you're either expecting too much too soon or you're doing something wrong. It is not the dog's fault. They only do what they've been taught. |

I think you have done everything you can do with your time constraints and it is obvious you love Cocoa and are looking out for his best interests. I'm sure most here agree with me.:) |
This is something we do have to watch out for and we never want people to worry about asking questions and getting help for their yorkies. We love helping and I'm afraid people will all start taking these posts in a personal way. I am not speaking for the OP but I think this was started to vent a bit about a thread that has been on of late. My first post here started out by saying that I hope people here know that we are here to help anyone that is here for the right reasons or willing to take advise (something like that) Please people do not think it is the way we feel in any way about almost all others coming on here for training or any type of question about their yorkie. |

It sounds like there's a problem with a particular person- why not bring it up with them??? I'm not on here enough to know exactly who it is but I can guess... I'm just hoping it's not in any way referring to anything I've posted since I got pumpkin because she's a tough little mutt (yorkiepoo- so I mean that affectionately) but I think she's starting to get used to us!!! |
I agree with you 100% :D I've wanted a Yorkie for sooo long (10+ yrs) and when I first got Meka I was told it shouldnt take longer than 2 weeks to train her!?! And as we all know, thats absolutely crazy... However, I adore my dog and quite frankly, even if it took 2 yrs to train... Im going to do whatever I have to do, to be consistant and help her get to where she needs to be! Some of these people see that they cant train em' right away, and act like they are disposable - and it makes one question their reasons for getting a pup in the first place..... |
