				   | I am considering adopting a one-year old maltese rescue boy. I've been thinking off and on about bringing another little dog into my home. I promised myself that I wouldn't get another one until after I graduated from college, but I think that it would be good for Wobie to have a companion when I can't bring him wherever I'm going... I am a little concerned about Noah's size though. He's eight pounds, and I'm worried about the wieght difference between him and Wobie. The last little dog, Homer, that I fostered was 10 pounds, and was just plain HUGE next to Wobie. Also, I just like Wobie's size, he's four pounds, and really easy to pick up, and carry with me everywhere. I know 8 pounds is still really small, and within the standard for a maltese, but I'm still a little uncomfortable with the idea of a dog twice as big as Wobie. Does anyone have a 4-5 pound furbaby, and a 8-ish pound furbaby to give me some perspective on this situation? Some pics maybe? Maybe I should just go out and find a teacup maltese breeder.

				   | Honestly there might not be a problem with the size. Koda is right under 6lbs and Allie was/is only 2lbs 5oz. They played great together! Koda was the instagater but Allie could whoop some butt ;-) she dominated they're playing totally, lol! I' will tri to post some pics of the diff in sizes. ok maybe i wont, there is no button again for me to do it?!?!? but look in the pfoto gallery under my name there are a few pics of them there! |

				   | The maltese standard calls for 4-6 lbs preferred so the standard size is very similar to the yorkie's size. But, yes, I have a yorkie who is 11 lbs and a maltese who is just under 4 lbs, and they get along great. There are absolutely no problems with their sizes. They don't hurt each other, but my yorkie is very docile. He's not rough, but the little 4lber is So, she's the one that pushes him around. LOL We take them both out with us in the stroller. She looks so tiny next to him, but like I said, there aren't any problems with the difference in size with my two furbabies. If we take one out with us, the other goes two, so they both go places with us, and they keep each other company. They absolutely love each other. I'll try to post a picture later on.

				   | Maltese should be 4-6 lbs. most are right around 7..now, remember I have the 14 lb yorkie, 10 lb shih tzu, 6 lb biewer, and right now, Ginger is close to 2 1/2 lbs. I think they would be fine together |

				   | Well my mom's yorkie/chi mix is 12 lbs and gets along fine with Slade who is about 5. THey play very nicely together and she really doesn't hurt him, Slades pretty tough. I also have a 45 lb pit mix who does fantastic with Slade. She knows he is smaller and adjust her playing style to accomadate him. |

				   | We have a 2 pound yorkie and our yorkipoo is supposed to only get to be about 5-6 pounds but I think she's going to be bigger- she's already 3 pounds at 12 weeks. But let me tell you- my 2 pound yorkie likes our 40 lb spaniel mutt 100% better than the new puppy her own size!! I personally think the smaller dogs like the bigger ones to cuddle with- more warmth! Anyway I would say that the maltese's size is probably not a problem at all- esp if he/she has a good personality. Good luck! |
