OH that is greaaaaaaaat news!! She has to spend the night eh? Is it different for males and females? Reece comes home this evening..maybe its just different vets that do that??

I am just leaving to pick up the lil guy...its an hour drive so I should be back by 6:30..hopefully he isnt feeling to bad...knowing Reece he will spring right back..I hate to see any of my animals feeling crappy...lots of huggers from mommy tonight..and he will milk it for all its worth too!!

Well I picked up Reece early as I couldnt wait another second at home...the vet is an hour away...he wouldnt come to me at first..then he quickly walked over to me..awwww...I carried him into the van where I had his NapSak laid out on the front seat..he didnt want on the seat so he jumped off and hid under the drivers seat until we got home. He hasnt pee'd yet or eaten and is shivering and cuddling with me...that was alot of stuff to happen all in one day I guess..

He had dried blood on his neck from the microchip and his incision site looks good..his teeth were pulled and that must hurt too :(...but all in all he is doing ok...Im sure a good night sleep without the other two dogs bothering him will be good and he will be a bit more chipper tomorrow..

I have a groomers appointment set up for him for Saturday..is that soon after a neuter to get him groomed..I forgot to ask..should I cancel it or see how he is feeling Saturday..maybe its too soon to bathe him 3 days after surgery??

What a lil' trooper!! I'm sure he'll spring back in no time with mommy's TLC. :)

Thanks for posting about how Reece did. It gives me an idea of how my wee one might do. Brody goes in for his neutering on Fri. They'll also be pulling what baby teeth he has left and giving him his chip. The vet wants him dropped off Thurs night. He'll have his surgery on Fri and come home Sat morning. I'm so nervous about his surgery and him being away for so long.

No bathing or grooming for 7-14 days, depending on what your vet says. My vet always said 10 days...you want the incision to completely heal before you get it wet.

Are you sure the blood is from the microchip? They implant that just under the skin between the shoulder blades, not the neck. Maybe the blood is from an IV or injection... I've just never heard of bleeding from a microchip

I'm glad everything went okay and hopefully he'll be back to himself soon

Glad to hear that all went well. We have made our appointment for both boys to have their neuter. They go in on Nov 1. They get to come home that afternoon also. They told me that we can not bathe for 7-10 days. Til all stitches are dissolved... We are going to get microchipped also....The stitches will be dissolvable....I thought that was pretty cool....


Seeing everyone here have such good luck with their surgeries is helping me keep from getting too anxious. I know it is routine but when it is your baby, well :rolleyes:

Once again, Glad all is well with Reece and that he is home with Momma...

Yes its good to know what to expect..and he is doing better and better..you can sense his pain but as long as I cuddle him he is fine..it takes his mind off the pain I think..right now he is snoozing under the comforter on the couch..good luck to Brody!!

Ok..thats good to know..thank you!! Maybe the blood was from an IV..that must be..I thought it was from the chip due to the placement of the blood but you must be right..I will reschedule his grooming appointment tomorrow!!
