Oh gosh I hope this thread doesn't get out of hand :( The most important thing here is to help the OP and try to convince him/her to place this Yorkie with a rescue versus giving him to the pound. First of all, to answer your question, no I have not ever had to surrender a Yorkie, or any dog for that matter. And as everyone has already said numerous times, please do not take him to the pound. There ARE rescue shelters out there that will take him - Yorkie rescues for that matter. And as a few people have already mentioned here, it honestly ISN'T true that once they've bitten they can't be turned around. There are skilled professionals out there that will work with these dogs and get them properly trained. I would not want the dogs life to end just because he's bitten before. Please give him a chance and try with all your might to get that poor baby into a rescue shelter  I sure do hope we get an update on this situation soon. |
Please put the dog here so someone can give him a good home. There are many caring ppl here and he can be given a great home. Do not take him to the pound or put him to sleep! IMO no dog should be put to sleep cause they bite unless they are a huge dog that can kill with it's bite but even then i don't have the heart to ever put down a dog for that reason, i would make it work somehow. I hope you do the right decision. |
like I said earlier in this post, I will contact rescue groups before doing anything else. thank you for your help :) if something can be done, then it should. |

Can you answer a few questions??? How old is he? How long have you had him? Is he neutered? |

I dont care about the statement i made it was the truth IMO!!! A lot of dogs dont like children. Children are young and dont know any better either so they grab dogs and hurt them sometimes not intentionally but the dog doesnt know that and after too many times of that why would you like children? If i was a dog and a child or even a person hurt me too many times i wouldnt like them either. Im sorry but that is that truth. ITs not the dogs fault as well as its not the childs fault. Your right i dont know your situation but i would always look at rehoming before i even would PTS a dog. Elderly people would be great for a dog with that doesnt like children! I ALSO in my statement didnt say it directly to you i said "All people want to do is put dogs down when they do something wrong when they simply don't know better." If you feel that should be directed to you personally then take it like that! All of us here on YT look at our dogs as our children and im sorry if you dont like that but we wouldnt kill a child because it did wrong. i know there is some difference but with time and patience a dog as well a person can be helped. A yorkie is not a huge dog and she said this dog was her youngest and jealousy contributed to the biting. Well a home with no other dogs could be a good place for this pup. |

I have been reading this thread, and wondering why the OP has not answered any questions? Or did I miss it? If you answer the questions about your dog, someone on YT may take him in and work with him. I have still not read how old this dog is? |

Hmm it seems weird that no name, no age, no more details of her dog are posted to so many who wanted to help. |
that's why I asked yesterday, where oh, where, has the original poster gone? Are you guys thinking what I am thinking? |

I was thinking the same thing from the 1st post!!! This thread needs to be ignored or closed!! |
Does anyone know if she took that poor doggy to the pound?? |
I pm'd her about the dogs age & so on with no response. I told her i only live 30 miles south of her haven't heard from her told her i was interested. OH WELL:thumbdown  |
Just checking to see if there was any new info. |
I just read every post in this thread and I have the biggest stomach ache! That poor baby! I hope he ends up in someone's hands that has the time and patience that he needs! |

I am sure one of your kids or a child you have known has bitten or had a bitting problem before. We do not put children down...we teach them better, by all means necessary! I would do the same for my Yorkies as I regard them as an equal part of our family. Like I read earlier on here, pets are not disposable  But I also smell a troll...but I just had to comment, sorry :D |

Not to sound rude, but honestly to me, she seemed like she didn't want to take out the extra time to try to get him to a rescue place. :( That makes me really sad. |
Ditto... I'm slightly concerned. I have so much time on my hands, I wish I could take him... I'd fix him up real quick. Poor baby... |
Ithink its a wind up, because like you all said if she was worried enough to post why wouldnt she answer all the kind people willing to help her. just a shame sometimes animals fall into tha wrong hands. i love my babies:aimeeyork :aimeeyork :D |
Maybe someone in that area needs to check the animal shelter, she may gave already turn him over to them. |
For the life of me I just can not comprehend how a human being with blood running threw his veins can dispose of any animal because they are just done with it! |

yeah my mickey growls when he is sleeping on our bed and you try to move him over a bit. he is a moan when he is tired:) but he has never so much as snapped or bitten us and he is such a sweet heart. just lately he has been a brave boy and became confident to walk outside. so hardly a savage killer who growls  |
According to this person's profile....they were on yesterday but I guess decided not to update us. I do not expect we will ever hear from this person again. So sad!!!! I hope they at least read all the concerns and have decided to NOT take the little Yorkie to the pound!!! |
I smell a troll... something's not adding up, especially since many have offered advice and help, and there's been no update. |
Someone has even offered to take him off her hands, and still nothing. PLEASE UPDATE US! |
I can't seem to accept the fact the the OP is willing to put to sleep this defenseless baby when he might need some direction. I have experienced this situation with my own furkid. One night we were playing with him in our bed and he went to grab his toy and accidently bit my husband in his genitile area. (he was naked :p ) He bleed a lot and we got scared and called the ambulance and they took him to the emergency. Well the animal control in our area called me and said that they would be coming to the house to have a look at the dog.(Too funny b/c of his size) Well when they came they told me that he needed to be cuarentined(??sp??) for 10 days and we didn't want for them to take him but it was standard procedure(??sp??). Those 10 days were horrible we missed him so much. We were going crazy b/c he wasn't with us and they won't even allow us to see him during that time. I'm sure if this would of happened to someone with out a heart they would of said to put him to sleep but we didn't. We understood it was our fault b/c he got into the trash and ate some oreo cookies that were left from a milkshake I had earlier that day. (I know pretty dumb of me:( ) But it never crossed out mind for him to be put to sleep b/c of this accident and you want to put urs b/c of a small bite that drew blood. My husband and I have made a joke out of this incident and say that doggy prison did him good. :p He(Max) still sleeeps with us we just take the necessary precautions so that won't happen again. As it was just an accident. And he is the most loving dog you can met he just ate something that chemically does not mix well with his system. P.S.My hubby would kill me if he know I posted this but I just want to get my point through to the OP. If you no longer want him take him to a rescue. |
