I took Maggie to the groomer last Friday (her first visit). She looks great. Before the trip, my husband kept calling her, his little Punk Rocker. She had a major case of the sprigglies. So there is hope afterall. |
That was Angel's first time too. She didn't get so lucky though. It's like they stuck her in a blender. ICK |
2 Attachment(s) 1st pic - Chanel will be so embarrassed by me posting this - but THIS is a bad haircut ! 2nd pic....check out Cheri's ears...face and nose - THESE haircuts almost made me cry after I stopped laughing - it was worse than the picture shows. these pics are from 2 DIFFERENT groomers too - so you're not alone. |
Well the first one kinda looks like angel's cut. Except she doesnt even have that much hair on her face. Her body hair is just as short and thin, HOWEVER, it's worse because she has a doggy mullet lol. The hair is short on top but long at the bottom. How can a groomer possibly thin this looks good? Or do they not care? |

I cant argue with you there. If they were smart they would realize that doing a good job means REPEAT customers. You keep screwing people over and you'll end up with no customers at all, which in turn means no money, and then bankruptcy. So, let them be as moronic as they want to. It will come back to kick them in the butt one day, im sure of it. Until then, im gonna see about doing it myself. I cant POSSIBLY make it any worse then they did. So once it grows out, I guess im gonna try. |

She was just a baby and hardly had hair to begin with - they chopped it up so bad I told the lady a 3 year old could do a better job...after leaving I remember thinking I Just PAID them for this ? |
I so wish I could :( It's been 9 weeks. Lord knows they would say "we didn't do that". I can tell you though, I learned my lesson. Never, EVER will I take my babies there again! Id rather pay twice as much and have it done right, then spend $50 and have them "F" it up! Believe me, I wouldnt mind going back there just so I could beat them with their own shoes! |

Well then, can you teach me how to do it so my babies can have the cut your babies have? |

For anyone thinking of grooming themselves - It's easier than you think - no leaving your baby - and no Butcher jobs like Heather just had and the pics I posted - It's something I do in steps - just cut a little here - a little there and usually you have a happy yorkie and no pissed off mom ! IF you DO have a booboo cutting - you just don't feel as frustrated and can always put a hat on them ! |

The ears and their little butts are just tipped and trimmed by the Wahl 1" trimmer - 3rd pic and as far as the feet - they are REALLY easy to do - I use sizzors there.....you just follow the natural line and I always do around the pads... All these are available at Sallys or Target under different brand names and under $20 each - the personal trimmer (1st pic) I couldn't live without ! |
You are sooo speaking chinese to me. I dont understand anything you said lol. Im trying to imagine it but I just cant. I wouldnt know where to cut, how much to cut, what angle to cut at... Man this is gonna be tough. I need someone to physically come here and show me lol |

That is ....if you can FIND a good groomer - :D I think I said - I've been to 5. I messed up on Cheri's face in the pic I posted but it was my first time then and as you do it - it gets easier. |
Thanks Villette Villette...thanks for all the great information and help. :) I never even thought to use scissors for between the pads....just a tiny clipper....but the scissors would be better... ;) You do the best job on your girls...and I'm hopeful to be able to groom Sophie at home also... :) Right now...I don't even really have enough for a top knot lol The hair on her back seems to be getting long though...lol |
You're welcome - I have NO grooming experience except reading and looking at yorkies ....but it really isn't as hard as people think - Last year I wouldn't have attempted it - but after the butcher cuts my girls had more than once.... I decided I could do just as bad a job for free and found it isn't that hard It's a great way to get them to learn to be still... and I've found they really enjoy me grooming them cause they get so much praise they eat it up. I know both my girls HATED going to a stranger so they are pretty good when I do them now. |
Villette....Maximus and I may just come and visit you...lol, so when you see us at you door..let us in...lol...we NEED grooming tips...you can start your own TV series...Grooming with Villette???? |
See this is why I love Yorkie Talk!!! I was about to ask the same question Heather! I just had a horrible experience with my EX groomer. Bella's hair is sooooo short now. I don't understand why she doesnt know what a puppy cut is!!!My baby was shaved and her hair is uneven!! I even brought pictures for her to see what I wanted. I'm so upset, i burst into tears at the office and refused to pay. She told me I was overacting and that it would grow back. I cannot believe a person who works with animals all day doesnt understand how import our babies are to us. I spoke with my breeder and she told me to brush it a lot to stimulate the folicles to help it grow. She also said to use horse shampoo (I just bought mane and tail) and a thick, rich conditioner to help it grow faster. |
I did the same thing. I brought pictures and stressed over and over again EXACTLY how I wanted their hair..but did they listen??? NOOOOOOOOO What if that person cut YOUR hair? Are they gonna say "it will grow back"? Isn't that a mean thing to say? I dont understand these people. You would think they would know how to follow directions. |
