TXShopper gave you some great advice. Yes, invest in belly bands and Poise sanitary napkins, get them at wall mart, they absorb wonderfully (I use 1/2 of and change it probably 4 times a day).....change them often. I do keep them on my studs when in the house. However, I remove them when they sleep and of course outside..... |
Thanks everybody for wonderful info. Last Deiter got very protective of me. Cozmo went to get up in my lap and Detier went after him and knock him off of me. So I really have my hands full. I have been taking time alone with both of them and then together, a lot of time together, playing, grooming, walking. I hope that is the right thing to do. I read that somewhere on bring in a new dog. Thanks for all the great advise. |
I think its great that your baby has another to play with now! As you know, any new dog takes lots of patience! Not to sound harsh, but I think its a little late to wonder if you did the right thing! Give it some time. Unfortunatley, I for one do not think getting that dog neutered will stop the marking. Been there with my Chopper and fixing him (after a year old) did not stop it at all. I've heard the earlier the better results. Belly bands might have to be used forever in your house :( And your baby may start marking his territory too. Boys....territorial! I would walk two of mine, one in each hand. Works for me. Good luck with everything... |
I have relatives that live in Bloomington and Normal..:) I can't remember who wrote it on here, but, if you don't get then neutered before they start marking, they won't stop..if your'e not going to use a male for breeding, then you need to have them neutered before they mature..Our vet does it between 5-6 mos. I'm really sorry you're having these problems..:( |
Congratulations. I think getting him neutered would be a good first move. Crate training 101 is probably in order too. He probably smelled you other dog, and that\'s why he\'s marking so much. Best wishes. |
You did a very nice thing by taking him and giving him a better life. I have a female the same age and I got her at 13 months untrained and it has been a difficult time. But I love her to pieces and will continue to work with her. When I brought her home thre was some jealousy but they get along good now, but they do tussle a lot. Hang in there!! |
