My baby has no tail! I am new around here, but I do have a question. My new baby girl Delilah had her tail docked by her breeder at 4 days old. They took off pretty much the whole tail! Now she looks as if she doesn't even have a tail at all...I can feel what seems like a marble size tail and that's it. I love her no matter what, but I am bummed that I will never see her wag her tail. Anyone else have a similar situation?? |
Oh, poor Delilah!! Did you ask your breeder about it? I think I would. Since she doesn't have much of a tail to wag, my hope for you is that you'll see her whole rear end waggin' at ya! Welcome to YT. We'd love to see pics of Delilah! She's beautiful with or without a tail. ;) |

My parents have a yorkie whose tail was docked way too short. He just has a tiny nub..you can't even see it unless his hair has grown out on it some. Breeders and vets that don't know the standard tend to take the whole thing off...a yorkie's tail should be docked to medium length. You know, a little nub with shorter hair gives them this cute little "bear butt" though..it's pretty darn cute. I would let the breeder know though that the tail was docked too short so she won't do it again to future puppies |
Mindee just has a little stub for a tail but boy can she shake it. Her whole back end moves with it. It is so cute. It's way to short but suits her sassy little personality. |
I have to agree, seeing them wag their whole butt IS very cute! |
Peeka has a nub to the vet that did his did it way to short:( but trust me he wags it just fine and his butt gets going along with it. :D I love the butt wiggles lol |

How very sad, hopefully she will wag her whole butt. My yorkies have full tails, not docked at all. |

Abbie's was docked too short, too :( . But, it does make for an extremely cute Yorkie waggle-butt! |

kieles tail is way too short too lol what makes it worse is she has thick hair and it covers it up and sometimes i cant find it lol! |

I don't agree with docking tails at all, they should be left as nature intended, dogs use their tails to express their mood and for balance..it's such a shame that it is still done...unfortunately my Heidi already had her tail docked when i got her....i'm soooo happy that my little girl Pixie has her full tail..i love it! and she's brilliant at balancing and 'dancing' on her back legs! it's a joy to see.:) |
Ours has a tail that is about 1/2 inch. It isn't much. But we have noticed that every time we take her for grooming, the groomer leaves lots of hair on her tail. We have never asked them to do it, but they must feel sorry for her. So she can wag her tail, and we can tell every time.:D |

I love the look of the docked tail. I know in Europe it is illegal to dock tails though...hopefully it will never become illegal in the US. All my yorkies will always have docked tails as it is the AKC standard and I prefer that look |

What she is lacking in tail she makes up for in face. She is adorable!!! My old yorkie used to wag his whole butt. It's the cutest thing. |

I find it difficult to stomach that somebody can justify mutilating a dog because they prefer the look of a docked tail. Cosmetic abuse. Very sad IMO. |
We laugh at Chloe when she gets excited. Hubby used to tell her to "wag the nub". He felt sorry for her being docked! She gets SO excited when he tells her this that she wags her whole back end. He calls it "wagging the dog". That tickles her and makes her wag harder. It's so much fun to see! |
maggie's tail was done very short. she has a small nub but not much. the only reason i can ever see it is because i let the hair grow really long on it :) so when she does wag, i can see the hair wag LOL your baby is precious :) WELCOME TO YT!!!!!!!!! |
My parents have one of their girls that tail was docked to short too. Nellee just wags her whole little rear end ;) She was their first yorkie and my mom said she knew the tail was supposed to be longer but she looked too cute when they went to look at her they could not pass her up. |
