I have to agree with the majority that it's probably the shorter hair cut that's throwing you off....I've seen some yorkies on this forum with before and after cuts and you would swear it's not the same yorkie... A good example of this is in the thread on Maddie, she now is in a shorter cut and looks so different than in her usual longer hair, not better or worse just a whole different look.... |
He is so cute!!! He looks 100% Yorkie, I think its the hair throwing it off for you. It really needs to grow out! Winstin has been here over a month and still goes after my sassy cat. He just wants to play. She puts him in his place if needed (does not hurt him though) When it gets out of hand I put her to bed in our big bathroom. I want her to learn to ignore him. He has learned to bark and stay back enough to wear she can't swat him. :D It is funny sometimes. I think once our pups are older the cat thing will get old and they will all be buddies! I hope you are having a better day today with him . He is a doll. I think you just need time to bond. |
I think he's all yorkie too...I agree with the others that said to shave down his ears-they might look different and stand up too! I think they just gave him a too short hair cut-once his hair starts growing, he will look more like a "typical" yorkie. I know you were concerned about his long legs, and I'll tell you that just like human children, yorkies go through an "awkward" stage somewhere between 3 months and a year. His legs are probably just looking longer now, and then he'll probably fill out. I thought Emma was going to be "not so cute" during her awkward stage, which was at about 5 months, and then again around 7-8 months old. She turned out so beautiful, in my opinion! |
He's a cute little Yorkie with an especially adorable face! Kalina has 3 cat brothers an she chases them all over the place, every day. But thy have come to love her and vice versa. She licks them, they lick her. Sometimes if she gets too wild they will give her a gentle tap to let her know. It's way too soon to worry about the cats and the puppy getting along. I have never had a problem with felines and canines together. We're just one big, happy family. Give it time. :) |
He doesn't look like a purebred yorkie to me, but he is totally freakin' cute!! :) |

also if you shave his ears they will stand up. you could try that unless you want them floppy i think he is cute either way! |
Looks like a yorkie to me. I think they al look different! Bubba has big floopy ears and is very healthy (teaqpot). Sissy, when we first got her-well I wasn't too sure of her-she had short hair (which made her legs look like they were a mile long) and 1 ear that stands up and one that lays down BUT I think they are the most beautiful babies ever |
Agree with everyone else..... adorably Yorkie. Coby's legs are real long like that right now. Awkward stage is all. He will start to fill in, and won't look so lanky. |
Awww he is such a sweetie! I think he is a doll!!! |
He looks 100% yorkie to me, and adorable too! :D |
Oh I think he's way cute. If you decide he's not for you, send him my way. ;) |
just think, you can make a difference ... be happy! he looks all Yorkie to me ... when his hair grows, you will be thrilled ... one of my girls has floppy ears and everyone comments how cute she is ... enjoy your new baby ($275 is a steal) ... you can make a difference to this furbaby ... |
He is a cutie. Definitely looks all yorkie to me but a big boy. Lots of people have 12+ pound yorkies on here and out there in the real world. I know of two just in the small town where I live. He reminds me of a stuffed animal with his cute face and floppy ears. I do think he's going to be taller than the average and bigger but still a full bred yorkie. |
From looking at the pictures, IMO it's a tossup between him being purebred and mixed. He does look a lot like a yorkie, and we all know that a lot of yorkies don't look like the yorkies described in the AKC standard anymore. His face reminds me of a friends yorkie, who also has lighter gold like yours does...almost silvery. In the pictures it looks like his gold is really light, like almost whitish looking?? That and his ears make me wonder if he's mixed with a maltese. I've seen a maltese/yorkie mix that looked just like a yorkie except the ears were floppy and the gold was almost white but still had black across the back. He does have long legs, but he has a long body too so you wouldn't want his legs to be shorter or he would be unproportionate. He just looks like he's going to be a bigger guy. His hair is very very short right now so I can understand how hard it is for you to picture him with long hair. Did you get a picture of him before you drove to get him? |
2 Attachment(s) he reminds me of Jordan the pup we helped rehome for a millitary friend. here is a picture of him he was 7 months I think in this picture. Attachment 152510He was a little leggy and was cut Really short on his body and head was left longer. I tiped his ears and they did start to stand up a bit. He came with AKC reg and although he was about 7 pounds and a little big I know he was all yorkie just a (Out of standard) One. He is now living in Colrado and loving it :) They even got him his very own pool he loved ours while he was here.Attachment 152514 |
Hey girl!! I just wanted to say that I know exactly what you are going through. I paid a pretty penny for my little guy & then started looking at other pups his age realizing that he didnt' look like many others. He is AKC registered, and both of his parents were beautiful, but he looks mixed w/chi. His ears look HUGE, and his hair isn't very long. But, I love him so much I just decided that it didn't really matter one way or the other. It's not like I plan to breed him. Anywhoo... he is 17 weeks now and still hasn't reached the 3lbs mark with his cast. (I hoped he'd be a little bigger. ) He is starting to fill in. His hair is getting longer, especially on his face you can tell how he is filling in. Now he looks 10x's more yorkie than before. There could be a mix somewhere down the line in his family, but I don't really know. All I know is that I love Trigger. I am sure if you give your guy a little bit he will fill in & be everything you expected. Good luck!! |
I am no help at figuring out if your furbaby is all Yorkie or not, but I do know a cute sweet pea when I see one! Your baby is adorable!!! :) |
He looks all yorkie to me. That smile in the last picture is to adorable. It took a month for my cat and yorkie to get along. Now they're best of friends. Just be patient, and reward him when he's good with the kitties. |
He looks all yorkie to me:) he is cute, maybe when his hair grows out a bit more his legs wont look so long;) can you post a pic of your other yorkie;) we love to see pic, are they getting along ok? oh and what his name:D I hope things come together for you all:) |
I agree with everyone else that your little guy looks all yorkie. He may be a little taller then most but once his hair grows in you probably won't notice the length of his legs so much. I think you can get his ears to stand if they are shaved. He really is a cutie. My Mindy girl came after our cat and the first couple of days our cat was terrified of her and hisses a lot. Then once he realized he had a playmate, oh boy you can't get them to stop playing. It is hilarious, they chase each other all over the place. My cat knows how to get Mindy to settle by putting her in a head lock. Mindy will whimper a little bit but then she leaves the cat alone. Don't worry about the cats they will tune your boy in if need be. Try to enjoy your little guy. I'm sure he will grow on you and you'll wonder what the heck you were worrying about. |
