Here is how weird I can get ;)
I saw a 5 pound Yorkie this morning and I thought he was big compare to Bikini that is 3.6 pounds. Does it make that much of a big difference when adding a pound to a Yorkie. Mine looks so little compare to the 5 pound. I'm so afraid of her getting huge. She is 4 months at 3.6. I just think they are so cute when they are tiny!
I hope she won`t go in the 15 pounds.... but I guess I will love her anyway!

Sounds very shallow to me when someone can't let their Yorkies have the happy life they deserve and it has become a weight contest,,,Who cares? They are adorable no matter what? My Koda is 5 lbs and she is very tiny still and looks adorable the way she is. If she gains weight I won't be so concerned unless It was affecting her health.

I have never seen a Yorkie that isn't adorable. The furbaby could be 3 pounds or 30 pounds and they are all precious!!!

I am so attach to her... I will love her but I am a tiny dog lover ;) But maybe it will help me appreciate bigger dogs! And 5 pounds.... it is not that much!

My yorkie is 11lbs and such a beautiful boy :) He is the love of our lives!!
Trust me, health is what is most important, not size.
I can't imagine that a 5 lb yorkie looked big by any means...If the "5 lb" dog was significantly bigger than your 3.6lb dog, then it was probably larger than 5 lbs. I have a maltese who is right around 4lbs, and she is the tiniest little thing. My aunt has a 5.5 lb yorkie who looks very tiny as well...

I'd say yes, a pound or so matters. If you're worried about your dog gaining a few more pounds, I wouldn't worry about it as it isn't anything you can control. :)

Occasionally we'll see a Yorkie that is 6 or 7 lbs (according to their owners) and they look massive compared to my 4 and 5 lbers.

It looked big to me ;) Maybe she lied tome!

I can't imagine anyone panicing over their Yorkie getting to be 5lbs:confused:
Panic if your baby is sick or lost but don't panic over a couple
of pounds. Your stressing for nothing:(

I'm sorry but I have to say, a Yorkie's size and weight DOES NOT matter, unless of course you plan on showing her as the AKC standard is 4-7 lbs. If you aren't planning to show her, then I honestly don't think you should worry about what her weight is. I am not trying to be rude here AT ALL....but I have to say, there are far too many people out there that worry about their Yorkies weight and size. It is just something that really gets under my skin. My Yorkie's are by no means big, my "biggest" :rolleyes: is 4 lbs and I do have a very tiny girl, but I can tell you that they could BOTH blow up to 20 lbs and I would care either way as long as they were healthy.

I don't think there is anything wrong with liking the small ones, but honestly - I know some people and their dogs weight is ALL they think and talk about, and I'm sorry - but it's VERY annoying.

Again, not being rude to you what so ever, just trying to give my opinion on this issue as it is one that truly does get under my skin. I truly do hope that you will love your baby no matter WHAT she weighs, or how big she gets. After all, it is not something that either you, or HER can control.

Oh and P.S. - just for the record, a 5 lb Yorkie is by NO MEANS "big".

Oh no I panic because I thought that 1.5 pound made a very big difference.... But I will love Bikini a lot.... And I can`t imagine giving her away because of weight! She is so cute ;)

5 lbs is still small, my boy is 8 lbs and to me he still looks small compared to other dogs. I used to have a Cavalier that was 25 lbs, and i thought he was small lol I hope you love her no matter how big she gets cause you can never guarantee the weight.

My smallest is 3.8 at 6 months, then 4.2 at 22 months, around 7 lbs at 4 years, 12 lbs at two years, and finally my boy Teddy who is two is almost 14 lbs.

I love them all equally and don't favor the smallest ones at all. Size doesn't matter.

Actually Teddy is my lap dog and also the most loving. Size should never be the most important thing.

I personally don't want one under 4 lbs as they are too fragile. 5 lbs is still really small.

5lbs is still VERY small. If the 5lb dogs was really that much bigger than your 3.5lbs dog, it probably didn't weight 5lbs. Also, weight in itself doesn't tell you anything..it all depends on the dogs frame and if that weight is healthy for that dog's frame. My parents have a small framed-yorkie (short legs, short body) and he is 7lbs...he is overweight and should probably weight more like 5.5lbs. He is a very small dog...just has a round little belly. Lacy is also 7lbs but looks larger than my parents yorkie because she has a longer body and longer legs...she is just at a healthy weight. So they weigh about the same but my dog is really the larger one.

Also, your dog is not going to stay 3.5lbs if she is only 4 months old. She still has quite a bit of growing to do and will probably be 5-6lbs full grown. Still a very small dog.
