Gizmo's Big Day is tomorrow Gizmo is going in at 7:30am tomorrow morning for his neuter and to have any remaining baby teeth removed. I'm a little nervous, but fine. I think we have everything ready. I only have one question left after driving the vet's office nuts this week. :D He can't have anything to eat or drink after 10pm tonight, and I can't get him to eat. He's hardly eaten all day except for his potty reward yogurt drops. He usually eats late at night in his bed, but that won't be an option tonight. I'm going to give him a bath in a few minutes and hopefully that will make him hungry. Any other suggestions? Please just send him some positive healing thoughts and prayers tomorrow. I'll update you tomorrow evening. (I have no idea how I'm going to be able to concentrate at work tomorrow.) Thanks everyone. |
Judy, I'm sure Gizmo will do fine tomorrow. :) :aimeeyork But that's easy for me to say cause I've allready been thru that with Rudy and I do understand how you feel. ;) I was nervous all that morning, until the vet's office called and said he did fine. But I will wish you both " Good Luck " tomorrow. :aimeeyork |
He just ate a full meal. So, all's well for now. :) |
Aww good luck- it's almost Roo's turn so I can empathize- I'm sure everything'll go great! |
Good luck, i'm sure he'll do great x |
I hope his surgery goes well. I know you're nervous but he should be just fine |
Hi Gizmo Izzy is sending you tons of virtual puppy kisses and only good vibes to ya - we'll be thinking about you all day and Izzy's big day is next Friday for baby teeth removal. Judy - let us know how it goes today....I won't be home until very late tonight - going on annual bus trip to crazy Longaberger (my friend is a consultant so we are helping her out by going). Kisses and hugs to our Gizzy. |
Winstin is sending hugs that all goes well. I will be praying for him also. It will not be long and it will be Winstin's turn. I am not looking forward to it. Best wishes Gizmo!! Yorkie Hugs to you all, Jen & Winstin |
Ebewyting wiw be just fine Dizmo, good luck! |
He's there now...with his favorite vet tech (she just loves him). They will call if they have any concerns, but if not, then we pick him up at 4pm. My hubby's taking it harder than I am actually. He is used to having Gizzy as his shadow all day. Thanks for all of the kind thoughts today. :) |

Gizmo will be in my thoughts and prayers today, Judy! You too! |
Good Luck Gizzy! See you at 4! |
Judy, I've been thinking of Gizmo and you today. I'm sure he's fine but can't wait for you to post when you pick him up and are back home, to see how he made out. Hope your afternoon goes fast for you. :) |
All the BEST for little Gizmo - we're sending hugs, licks, and positive thoughts your way!!! And for your Mom too, that she can make it through the worry. Did you get the onesies I sent you yet? :D |
Prayers for a safe neuter are coming. He might be picking up on you being nervous. |
He's home! :D The vet said that he did very well with the anesthesia, and he was very alert when we picked him up. His poor little scrotum is very red and irritated, and the tech explained that it was because of the shaving. He has the disposable stitches, so we don't have to go back to have them removed. He also had five remaining baby teeth removed. All four canines and one in the back on top. The blood clotting test went perfectly, so he's back to normal now. They didn't send home any pain medicine. When we asked, they said he wouldn't need it. However, when we got home he was whining and whimpering like I have never heard him before. :( So, since it was close to five on Friday, I called and they said to come in for some pain medicine for him, and my husband just went to go back for it. He came home with it while I was typing this and it's called Deramaxx. (I have to go look that up.) He can have a half of a 25mg tablet once a day. He is trying to lick the quite a bit, so I think I'm going to have to figure out how to modify the onesie Wylie's Mom sent him. Wylie's Mom rocks by the way!! Thank you!! As a gift to Gizmo, she sent two baby onesies and some bully sticks. Gizmo thanks you! :) That was so sweet! Thank you everyone! He's curled up on his little blankie right beside me. I am so glad this day is over. |
You are MOST welcome! I am so glad little Gizmo came through with blazing colors. What a relief to have him home! Give him some kisses from us and load him up on the drugs!! YAY Gizmo!!!!!!!!! :D |
Awwwww...sweet Gizmo!!! We have been out of town and I just seen this. Glad all went well and he is doing well! Mojo recovered so quickly after his! |

I'm so glad everything went ok for Gizmo today and he's back home resting. :) :aimeeyork I can't remember what they gave Rudy for his pain meds but I think I only gave it to him twice. I'm glad your husband went to pick him some up at the vets. Sounds like you and Gizmo need to go to bed early tonight.:dogzzz: :snore: Let us know tomorrow how he's doing. |
Aww Gizmo, we are glad you are back home safe and sound! |
So glad Gizmo came through his surgery okay! You can put the onesie on him up side down and then his tail (if it's long enough) can poke through between the snaps or you can unsnap one. But you will have to remove it for him to go potty. The only other alternative is an elizabethan collar. That seemed to work best for mine when they were neutered, as they can still do a lot of damage through a onesie. But maybe Gizmo won't be so rough. Please give him hugs for me! Hope his recovery goes very quickly. |
Thanks everyone. The meds seem to be working. He even ate well. :D Thanks Nancy for the info on the onesie. I was just trying to figure that out. |
Poor little Gizmo, he will be back to his old self before you know it Judy, just give that baby some extra tlc and give him hugs from my crew....:) |
Judy, I had to come and check to see how your baby did! I'm so glad all is well and he's resting at home with you. I'm sure he'll be getting lots of TLC this weekend! Hugs from me, Otis and Oliver!! |
Oh, I missed this earlier. Glad Gizmo is doing well. We always worry so much about our little furbabies.:) I ended up cutting a little hole in the bottom for Tink's tail 'cause hers is a little longer than a stub and it was squished. I tried unsnapping a snap but the rubbing of her tail against the fabric bothered her. |
Hi Judy - I just got home and this was the first thread I was looking for to see how our Gizmo made it today at the vets. So glad that he came through with flying colors and that you were able to get the pain meds for him in time...poor little guy.....he'll be sore for a day or two I bet and then back to his old self. Keep us posted tomorrow morning on how our buddy is doing. Izzy sends tons of puppy kisses and her turn is next Friday. |
I am so glad that he is out and okay. Give him lots of hugs and kisses. |
Coby sends high-paws to his little buddy!! He'll be feeling like himself in no time. I'm sure it was long day for both of you!! |
