Glad to hear that the puppies are healthy, did she give you a care plan since they are still young and you had feeding questions? A 7 week old puppy would still need constant care. I am not sure if you are able to have someone with the little ones but I hop that they are not left long periods of time,Hypoglycemia can happen real quick with their age. Nutri-cal is a good thing to have just in case. Good luck! |
Well, Both dogs are doing fine and Tee-L has a new owner... I only have Skyy now and he is doing well...Just lost alot of weight recently at my parents house... So he is on a new Diet from Honest Kitchen using Force. :D |
Force is a great food! I'm glad your baby is still thriving with you. Howcome Tee-L was rehomed? |
I nursed two puppies because their mama had an milk infection...I never turned them on their backs while I fed them because the milk could go into their lungs. I held them like they would be nursing from their own mom. I didn't use a bottle because they got to tired from sucking so I used a syringe and used the amount quoted on the formula... I warmed it and fed it to them. I had a heating pad that I set on the lowest possible temperature and kept a couple layers of baby blankets over it so they wouldn't get too hot. I had to use a warm wet washcloth to clean their bottoms so they would use the bathroom. And fed them every 3 to 4 hours... or when they seemed hungry. Luckly the mama got better and took over.. her milk was just about dried up so I still fed them in between her feeding them. They sure got used to me and when they smelled me they would start smacking and trying to suck on my fingers... And they both are healthy and happy boys. I sure had to put a lot of time into them but in the end it worked out. And when they got alittle older I used the formula in the dog food to make it soft and they loved it..and as for water if they are on formula they really don't need water. Good luck and your vet should be able to give some good advise too... mine did. Keep us updated... |
ummmm, wasn't this thread started back in 2007? The puppy should be a couple years old now, lol |
LOL I was looking at that too. I would hope those puppies are doing just fine by this time. I've read a few really old threads today that popped up. |
