:wavey: Hi Anthony welcom to yt, your baby is so cute and yours roommate yorkie too, but I would take the advice of the members here, I think 4 weeks is way to soon to have the puppy, so glad that you try to help your roommate:aimeeyork |
Well, he wants to keep it...So he bought some bottles and milk for the puppy. He is eating and sleeping alright...So IDK what he is going to do....BTW Im returning the Cesar food, but what should I feed my YT? I only have a Walmart here..:( Thanks Anthony |
You never answered the question of why the puppy left the breeder at 4 weeks. Did your friend ask the breeder to let him take the puppy home at 4 weeks? |

I think we're all coming on a little strong here, so I thought I'd remind Anthony and his roomate that we're here to help, so I apologize on behalf of all of us if you're feeling judged or critisized. I know this is a pretty overwhelming time for two guys who have never had dogs, much less teeny tiny yorkies, before. :D |

No offence, but I think that it would be more beneficial to the situation if you held back the rudeness just a little bit. |
I skipped through to the end of the posts so I don't know if anyone has gone into detail on raising a young pup. I had to had raise 5 baby girls at only 8 days old. It can be done. I would recommend a heating pad under a blanket because there are no siblings to help keep each other warm, keep the temperature set on low. You should be able to remove the heating pad in another week or two. Get a good supplemental milk, recommend liquid from vet instead of where they sell pet supplies. You will need a puppy bottle. What I did was sit on the floor with the pup in my left hand, laying on my knee with my fingers around their mouth, more so to keep the nipple in but also to help give the feeling of skin touching their face. Oh, I'm right handed. I place the heal of my right hand as close to their chin as I could get it. I feed every two to three hours and keep track of how much they are taking at each feeding. I introduced soft food at 4 weeks once a day, mixed really thin with the supplemental milk and put on a saucer. Of course the first couple of feedings I had to stick their mouth onto the plate. It was a total mess but they caught on real fast. And most important, after feeding be sure to take like a warm wet paper towel or a cotton ball and wipe their private parts to stimulate them to pee and or poop. I also washed their face and body with a wet cotton ball. Anything you can do to simulate a mother dog will be very helpful for the development. Having said all of that, what kind of a breeder would let a pup go at 4 weeks old? I can't even imagine!!!!!!!!! Heck, I have a difficult time letting them go at 10 weeks old. They need the doggy interaction that humans can't provide. Because we had other yorkies, our baby girls got plenty of interaction. We brought Feebie home from FL at 5 weeks old and only because we were expecting a litter that week. Feebie never did take to the litter or mother. I would never, ever, do that again unless something happened to the mother dog. I wish you much luck. |
wow :( :( thi is so sad and it really make me mad that anyone would ever let apup go this young... Do you know the Breeders name or do they have a webpage? so we all know not to go there..... |
I cant believe that breeder let the puppy go that early. Sorrym I didnt know that you didnt know the pup was that young. Please keep it warm!!!! Looks like you are getting all your supplies in order. Maybe take it to the vet tomarrow, but remember that all the sick dogs will have been there too. Dont touch the counters and then touch the puppy. Dont let others in the vet office touch the puppy either. Best of luck, Lynn |

And I agree with the others, they need to be turned in so it wont happen again. I wish you all the luck with this little one. It was good of you to get on here and ask questions. it shows you care. as for the other 7 week old puppy. I wouldnt let my puppy go even at that early age. But I know there are a lot of breeders that do let them go at 6-7 weeks. But the longer they stay with their mommys the better they are. |

Anthony, i dont know where in the world you are, but i am willing to help you, and your friend along with this baby. If you are anywhere in europe, which is where i am, i will be willing to raise it for you, until it\'s old/strong enough to face the world. If you are on the other side of the world, you are welcome to PM me, for my IM addy, and we will talk there. I am glad you came on this forum for help, and advice, and dont take it personally, the people on here dont blame you, or your friend, it\'s the breeder they are upset with for letting this teeny tiny baby go this young. Your question on which food brand to give him, best to call your vet, they stock up on better brands. I hope this helps. Best wishes, and yorkie hugs to you both. |
