Does anybody else do self-grooming?? I am a very cheap person, and the thought of paying 40 bucks to get grooming done makes me cringe, so I always just do it myself. It's just me, him, and a pair of scissors. It takes me about 20 minutes or so...and he's done! He sits pretty still for me too, so it isn't really that big of a pain. While you can kind of tell it wasn't done professionally, it also doesn't look bad at all. Anybody else? |
I bought a pair, and I prefer to do it myself, to make sure that its done the way I like it:) |
Yes, I do my two also. I haven't found a groomer I can trust - actually I haven't looked real hard for one since I've learned to do it myself and the puppies behave very well:) |
My boys have never been to the "beauty shop". They are 3 and 2. I'm on a tight budget and I have trust issue's with groomers so I've always done mine myself. Unlike your baby, my boys are less than cooperative when it's time for haircuts or trims. It's usually a day long process, sometimes even stretches through the whole weekend. It would go a lot faster if I had someone to help me hold them. I think the next time its time for haircuts, I'll call over one of my neighbors or family member to help out. It would make it a lot easier with my wiggly boys.:D |
I steal Daddy's hair clippers and trim Tino "bonzai"style...wherever I think he needs a snip snip...he gets it. I get compliments every time people see him. They always ask me which groomer I use. |
I groom the babies myself also :) It's not really so much that I'm cheap lol...however after my last (and only) tragic experience at the groomers, I vowed that I would never take my baby back there again. They just cut his hair way too short and I was devastated  Shocked...just was NOT at all expecting him to come out looking like that, lol. Now I have 2 Yorkies and they are both groomed by mamma and mamma alone ;) |
My guys are 5 months. My daughter is in Cosmotology and she gave me her scissors. They had to get her a new kit. She is left handed... So I used my new scissors and groomed both boys this weekend. I think I did pretty good. Daughter thought I gave in and took them to the groomers. |
all groom all of mine myself |
I do my two girls myself too. I finally broke down and learned to clip their nails:eek: I used to take them in for just that. Not as scary as I thought. |
I am in the learning process, My groomer is the one teaching me:aimeeyork |
I too like to save money. I groom both of my pets and 2 others for friends that had purchased their pups from me. I do warn them that if I get it too short to remeber that it will always grow back. LOL But no complaints so far. |

None of my yorkies go to the groomers. After working for a groomer, no way, jose! |
I home Groom our Babies too. I'm Trying to Grow Harley's out so his I just Trim. |
I do my own because I just haven't been able to find a groomer that I totally trust yet. I actually think I will keep doing it myself, it just seems easier than taking Jake and leaving him at the groomer. I think he would be traumatized. I will do Jackson's grooming when I get him too. |
I groom my two girls myself. They have never been groomed anywhere else. I invested in two good clippers and expensive scissors. It's very easy and rewarding. ;) |
I groom Pixie myself she has never been to a groomer. She is a dream to groom, silky non matting coat and sits still. Cali I send out occassionally since she matts so bad due to scratching from her allergies. I am trying to do her myself most of the time. I trimmed her up yesterday, I need a lot more practice, but figure it will grow back. |
I groom my babies too:aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
I bring mine to the groomer for fear of doing to much damage. |
I have always and will always do it myself, I just don't think I could ever trust a groomer. I've heard way too many horror stories. Its really not hard. |
I groom all of mine also. I used to always take my first yorkie to a groomer but then I started reading some of the horror stories about some groomers and decided I needed to do them myself. I bought a grooming dvd and all the supplies. It's not to hard and well worth it. I can't do the nails though and have to take them in for that. I nipped my chihuahua's nail one time and now I just can't do them. She used to hold still so well for her nail clippings but since I got the vein that one time she's now a terror for nail clippings. Poor princess. |
i groom lexi myself too, but once in awhile i take her to get professionally done.... i do an ok job, but they do it perfect... shes due for a professional cut real soon..... |
