I think there is a time period for getting your dogs registered with the AKC . Regardless, you will never be able to register your dog until SHE registers her. More than likely she got a limited registration and went ahead and bred the dogs anyway and the puppies would not be eligible to be registered. Not saying that is what she did, but it happens a lot. I'm sorry if she lied to you. It sounds you have a long up hill battle if you want to get her registered. |
Sorry but I think you've been hosed! I wish for the best outcome possible for you.... |
It looks to me like you were decieved. Were you thinking of breeding her, or showing her? I know alot of it is on the principle of the whole deal, you wanted pure breed, you paid for one ensuring it was a pure breed, and papers to prove it. Think of it this way if she just showed up on your door step as a stray , would you even care what she is now? |

is there any other way i can register my baby??? |
So you think because your baby is between 6 and 7 lbs. that she is not purebred???? |
I wish I could help. I hope all works out for you. I really do not think there is a thing you can do without the parents being registered (if I read that) and there is a window of time in which they can be registered if I am not mistaken. |

If you had a contract for AKC paperwork, take the breeder to court. You could at least recoup some of the money you paid her... When I sold my puppies I made sure the new owners had the AKC paperwork in their hands whether the pups were to be registered as "pet quality" or "full registration". They were also given a copy of the litter registration, which showed the registration numbers of the sire and dam and well as some of the ancestry. This may be a hard lesson learned, but does teach others who read your post what to look out for when buying an AKC registered yorkie puppy. PS..You could also contact the AKC, via their website and let them know what happened. Just a thought as I don't think they can help much. Debbie Tea' +6 |

Good for you! That breeder needs to be stopped in her tracks. You may just scare her enough into giving you back some of your investment. You have the contract which is proof so you should have no problems taking her to court. Keep us updated. |
As another posted, I think someone lied to you. And if you purchased a pup, that someone said was AKC - the registration should have been one of the first things exchanged... Its important and a lot of prices are based upon that.... |

I'm so sorry she decieved you. I can't imagine how some people find it so easy to lie. Since Coco's parents aren't registered I don't see how you'll be able to register Coco. I would definitely demand some money back since you paid extra for a registered dog. Hopefully you can get it without going to court. We were given the AKC registration papers at the time we picked up our puppies with every dog we've had so in the future I would make sure you get those at the time you pick up the pup. Good luck with everything and just try to concentrate on how much joy Coco brings you. And forget about the rude people who try to tell you she's not a purebred. What's up with that? |
It doesn't sound like you will be able to get your baby registered. :( Sorry! If I were you I would be demanding at least a partial refund from your breeder since she did not deliver the papers you were promised. You can't get full AKC registration unless your breeder has the parents and the litter registered. You can get that individual registration thing through AKC, but it is only so your dog can take part in agility and such, it is not any good for regular dog showing or breeding purposes. |

The standard for Yorkies is 7lb and under but there are many pure bred Yorkies that are over so don't be concerned about what anyone says. Continue to love your baby and have her spayed. Please don't even consider breeding mixes! Do you research and learn all you can and save your money (again) for a registered (papers in hand) Yorkie. Continue here on YT. learning and listening to the respected, reputable breeder/exhibitors. You can learn a lot from them and they are always willing to help. Who knows, you might even want to show later on, but even if you don't, I'm sure from what you have said, you want to be a responsible Yorkie owner and someday, breeder. Good luck to you. |

Let me begin with telling you that you have every right to be upset that you were dupped. You've come across a disreputable breeder. Second let me go on to tell you AKC papers only prove that both your dog's parents were registered, it doesn't prove that that your dog is pure bred (most likely she is). There is no test out to date that proves that there wasn't some hanky panky in the wood pile way back in her pedigree. Anyway not having papers is in your eyes very important. If you don't have a signed contract that the breeder would provide you AKC papers you're pretty much hosed. If you do....don't let the breeder get away with it. If you plan to breed your female, and sell puppies, then you'll probably have to sell them for less. As far as your female being 6-7 pounds.....how wonderful. It's the weight range I prefer my breeding females to be. But, what is more important is they are a great representation of the breed, that I know their pedigree, that they come from a line of free whelpers. In closing.....good for you, stand by your convictions of breeding pure bred yorkies.....good luck to you. Mary |
