Do your yorkies like wearing clothes?? I bought Rusty a cute winter coat and a sweater. Last night when I tried to have him model his new outfits, he freaked out! You would think that I was tourturing him by the way he was acting:eek:. how do you get the clothes onto you puppies? Its starting to get cold at night here, and i don't want him to freeze when we take him outside... |
I put outfits on Barkley since he was very little! Now, when I go to put them on he does not like it but once they are on him he does not seem to mind! Hope your little guys starts to like them! I just love it when Barkley has a cute shirt on! |
Diggy could careless and Bella NO |
Penny loves getting dressed up, but I started when she was little. The boys no way. |
Cody chews on his polo shirt and his jeans... but he has one shirt that says Mamas boy he doesn't even touch it !!! everything else he wants it off him. |
Zoe is completely fine with clothes on since a pup, she even helps us by actually getting her paws in the armholes for us. |
Both of my babies LOVE wearing clothes, thank God - cause I am a BIG time shopper, lol. I started putting clothes on them when they were teeny tiny - from day one that I had them ;) So I guess they just got used to it as wearing clothes is pretty much all they have ever known, lol. They do run "naked" around the house alot though, so they do get their breaks away from clothes :p Both of my babies shiver and easily get very cold though, so the clothes work out great for them. I am sorry to hear that your little one doesn't like them :( Maybe he just has to get used to them, but I know some just hate them period :thumbdown |
Buster didnt like it at first...but he is used to it now. When something is new - there is always a curiousity and a fighting instinct - I think it just takes time :) |
My girls don't mind them, it keeps them warm. Teddy doesn't mind them but sometimes he doesn't want them |
Mr. Biggs loves to wear clothes! He always gets excited when I pull out a shirt (I think because he associates it with going outside) and he gets excited to see his pj's... and then he goes and finds a pile of clothes to lay on eventhough he has 3 beds in the house. lol |
All of my fur babies have gotten dressed since they were babies. They all love it. Our Yorkie Krissy will run to their closet ( YES they have their own wardrobe/closet) :D. All I do is say bye bye and Krissy wants to be the first one dressed. They actually wait in line to get dressed and are sad if they do not get to because it means they are staying home. I used treats to train them. One special; treat they only get when they have clothes one. I use pupperoni. Try showing the treat and then say get dressed! After getting dressed give the treat. I have had lots of people say this works! |
I started trying clothes when we got Stella, she didn't like them then nor does she like them now when inside. She doesn't seem to mind when we are outside. I wish she liked them more because they are so cute on her. |
Bengi sometimes runs aways when I want to put a shirt on him, but once it's on he doesn't care. Lately he's being relating clothes to going out, so he's actually getting excited when he sees I pull out a tshirt, but sometimes while I'm putting a sleeve on, he has the look of "what was I thinking???" :D |
Harley pouts when I put anything on him  |
Meka loves it... She just lets me dress her w/ no probs... But, I started when she was younger, so that might make a difference.... |
Teddy doesn't mind them at all. I found that the only time he had a problem was when I bought him a big winter coat and it restricted his movement. He would just stand there and not move. LOL |
Both of mine just love having clothes on. The first couple of times they both were a little skittish, not liking having to put their heads and feet through the holes, but they got to understand and are now gleeful at the prospect! If they see a shirt or dress they jump and twirl and I get two heads, and eight feet for one outfit. |
So, Is there any secret to getting clothes onto a yorkie that doesn't want to wear them, without him squirming out of your arms? |
I guess I just never made Harley wear them long enough. He pouts and after a few hours I take them off. About how long did it take yours to get used to it?? |
Buddy does not like clothes. Winter is coming and I have a struggle ahead of me just to get his sweater on or his coat. He is so use to wearing nothing. In the house he dosen't wear even a collar or harness. He's bare all the time unless we go out for his walks. |
My female dont mind wearing clothes. My male kind of stays all stiff like he cant move. lol |

Mines likes wearing them because they think it's time to go somewhere. |
My schnauzers don't mind at all. They have even worn boots. Kayla can get out of anything before I can finish getting it on her. How do you get them to wear bows? Her little hair is not long enough for her top knot yet but I put (or tried to put) a barret in her hair and my husband thought I had stepped on her. She screamed like she was dying and shook it out. I want her to look sweet and like a little girl in her clothes I have bought her and it looks like NO WAY. Help!!! |
Avery likes wearing clothes..(but i have seen a trend-i think lots of lil ones who dont mind the clothing, have been used to it since they were little??) ur lil guy might start to like it if you are persistent with putting the clothes on him.. maybe??;) Avery also loves when i put her hair up in a rubberband.. which is pretty much daily(cuz her hair hangs in her eyes if not) but she doesnt like when the bows are in as much..depends on her mood for the bows  hehe. |
Some dogs are not as fond of clothing as others. My yorkie loves clothes and so does my boxer (well she loves clothes in the winter only) but my chihuahua is not a fan and I really cant get her used to it. So I only make her wear clothes when its cold or if she needs to wear a harness and occasionally for pics. |
Tilly LOVES clothes. She hates shoes though. |
My first yorkie HATED clothes!I would let her outside and she 'd come back with out them. ALWAYS she was so funny you'd have to go look for the item she had on because she HATED them so bad. Now my new crew they love there clothes. Diva will go get what she wants to wear she's so cute. |
Toto loves clothes .... associates them with warmth!! :) She's been wearing them all her life. She's not overly fond of shoes but will have no choice since we are back in CO just in time for winter!! :p On those rare occasions that she resists anything I want to do to her, I use the "stay" command and she is immediately as still as a little mouse! ;) |
