Koda you cutie thing you under the tree!! This will be our first Christmas with our YT family and we can't wait to see all the pics of our buddies by the tree and presents! Love Koda's winter sweater, too.;) |
Gypsy, last year, got up in the middle of the night and chewed on the light cord. Luckily it was off and did not hurt her. Scared me to death when I found it. My mom told me to put dish detergent on it to keep her from biting it next time. She is out of the biting stage now though so hopefully I will not have as much worry. I plan to have hubby tack it to the wall so it does not hang down or lay on the floor. |

We usually get a real tree. Bubba (the thief) will remove ornaments and run with them, so we are carefull to put little stuffed one on the bottom. They also unwrap their own gifts :D so I can't put their stuff under the tree until it is safe (they never bother to read the "do not open until Christmas" note). But they had a great time last Christmas. We took them and had their picture taken with Santa. |
Hi there, last year was the first Christmas with Trixie and Pia. These two don't typically bother things that they know they shouldn't. Yes, I know I'm lucky, LOL. They did however have fun chewing on gifts. :p This year I predict an issue with Paisley. She's mommy's lil monster and loves to go after everything. No tinsel for us and I recommend leaving the bottom of the tree pretty much empty. I know if I don't, Paisley will take everything off. Sorry, I can't think of anything else to be careful with. :) |
I had Aubrey last Christmas, but I was out of town,so he wasn't with me.. plus he was maybe 10 weeks old so he couldn't get into anything. But this will be my first one with Dakota! |
We did not put up a tree last year, but the year before they never really bothered the tree. I only do lights and the fabric ornaments. NO tinsel EVER. We may not put up a tree this year either. I am thinking of maybe finding a small ceramic one with the lights andputting it on a table. We don't have any children so a tree is really not a big deal. |
Yorkies AND Christmas.. I am glad that you enjoyed the "Yorkie Christmas" pic. It is really fun decorating a Yorkie tree. There are usually kiosks in the malls that will do personalized ornaments for dogs. I get one for them every year. My sister always gives them an ornament from danbury mint. They are so beautiful, and I know that she spends the $$ on them....... but soooooo gorgeous!!. There are also the "Countdown to Chrismas calendars" that have the little pockets on them for each day of the countdown. They can be used to hold little "treats" , charms, bully sticks, bows, etc.... then they can have a little countdown of their own (plus it is so much fun shopping for the calendar items)! I guess I have given it away..... Christmas is a wonderful time of the year for me. The birthday of Jesus!! I always have many trees in the house, shop until I drop for family & friends, wrap each and every gift with homemade bows..... not to mention the Christmas dinnerware (I take all the dinnerware out of the cupboard and use my Snowman stuff from October (end of) thru March)...... Hey, snowmen are "seasonal" all winter long, right??:D I think it is great that some of you are considering doing a Yorkie tree........ I love to share ideas, especially when it come to my Yorkies AND Christmas!! :angelyork :xmastree: :xmastree: :angelyork :angelyork :xmastree: :xmastree: :angelyork |

I didn't put up my big tree last year b/c I was having back issues so I just put my little charlie brown tree on a table. Obviously, Max and Abbie didn't bother it because it was on a table. I'll probably do the same this year because I'm not sure If I'll feel up to it following my surgery. 2 years ago when the big tree was in the living room, they didn't bother the ornaments but Abbie tried chewing my tree skirt so I put the exercise pen around the tree. It looked hideous but it was functional at the time. At my parents' house, Max and Abbie never bothered their tree, ornaments, or skirt. The only think I stopped using was tinsel but I didn't like tinsel, anyway. |

So my dog loved his first xmas last year. All glass decorations at the bottom of the tree broken...he chewed the metal pieces that connect the orament to the hook...he used the wire garland to pull the tree over several times..(he just doesnt know his strenght. He also managed to pee inside my boyfriends xmas present gift bag. SURPRISE! He is very naughty. Hopefully this year will be different. My advise: 1. Very sturdy base 2. Plastic oraments 3. No garland 4. Tree braches that start three feet off the ground 5. Water-proof wrapping paper |
