Kai gets his bath every sunday evening. He used to jump and scratch at the sink but he doesn't mind it now and I have even moved to the tub. after his bath I wrap him up and snuggle with him for a few minutes then we go back in the bathroom and he get blow-dried on medium/cool heat (mine dryer has an adjustment) if he does good when he is being dried and doesn't try to jump around or bite the air I will put him down on the floor when I am done and blow the air all around him and he likes to jump at it and try to "eat" the air.. It is absolutely adorable! and this way he doesn't think of his bath as a chore because he gets to snuggle up with mommy and play when its all over.. just keep it up! your baby will get used to it <333 :aimeeyork |
I bathe all of mine once a week, and usually let them air dry. If it get's cold and I have to blow dry them I let them sniff the dryer first, and put it on slow and low heat. |
Do you bathe them in the sink or bath tub? I got my little Rusty last weekend and I am planning on giving him his first bath this weekend. Generally speaking he does not like to get wet, so i'm sure he won't like the bath. But, hopefully he will somewhat enjoy it:aimeeyork |
We gave Belle a bath last night. I wouldn't say she "enjoyed" it but she was a lot more tolerating of it than the last two. I think she will learn to like it. I made it nice and warm. Just did the towel dry then, and brushed her. They really do turn out lovely after a wash don't they?? |
I have always heard that you should not brush their hair while wet (it increases breakage).. instead brush it just before their bath and also not to rub them or scrub with the towel to dry their fur.. i used to do that when i first got kai because i wanted his hair to dry so he wouldnt be cold but now I just hold him for about thirty minutes or so until its almost dry and then blow dry it the rest of the way and his hair is sooo much softer...:aimeeyork also while your yorkie is still a tiny little baby i would wash him in the sink with warm water.. also I like to use a cup to pour water on kai's back so that its not too much. as they get older and you feel more comfy with your baby move to the tub.:aimeeyork .. i hope this helps a little.. |
Cody hates baths and he hates for me to use the blow dryer so i brush him until he is dry and fluffy! |

Im not saying your wrong but many on here say that brush them always while they are wet never whiles they are dry or dirty! that causes breakage! i actually comb mine while the conditioner is in and after the bath.(while they are still wet) |
Teddy HATED his baths in the begining but soon realized that I was going to do it no matter what so he resigns himself. He even comes and sits at my feet when he sees me getting the bath ready...then when I bend over to pick him up he has a look of dread. LOL I do think they will fight you until they realize that you are going to do it no matter what. If you let them win then they know a good fit will get them out of whatever it is they don't want to do...just like skin kids! LOL Kim |

Bella isn't a bath fan! I tried to dry her the first time on a cool setting and I think I scared her to death. Now I just let her air dry! :) |
As far as blow drting goes. I think if they never hear one and then you try to use it on them it will scare them. I knew I wanted to use it on Teddy so I would have him in the bathroom with me every day when I blow dryed my own hair. After hearing it every day for weeks by the time I used it on him he was fine with it. Kim |

This may sound dumb- but you comb their hair while the conditioner is still on them? And then rinse???? |
