Thanks for the post....Ill be a tossin fool when i get home..... |
what is it??? I can not get it to come up:( |
Thanks also for the information. |
Thanks I tossed all but one toy yesterday that wasn't made in China. My girls are so lost without their toys. I went to petsmart and found ONE not made in China. |
I don't know what we are going to do, I just toss all the tennis balls the labs had they have been sick off and on for a few days. |

by Matt Hartley on August 15, 2007 at 3:25 pm · Comments Categorized by Talk / Related Information I used to believe that something made in China merely meant this was its place of origin only. These days however, this is quickly changing.

Fisher-Price recall
Counterfeit Drugs
China takes over world’s antibiotics, enzymes markets
Now to be clear, this is a concern over lack of government standards in that region, not some biased nonsense of prejudice against the Chinese people. The simple fact is that they suffer the same lack of proper checks and balances as many economically growing countries. Because they are becoming a super-power at an alarming rate however, their distribution rate is something to be concerned with when we see an ongoing problem with quality control continuing to go unchecked. Now, there is the question of pet toys from the region. As you remember from the piece on kids toys, with concerns over many of them containing lead or worse, has anyone ever bothered to look where their pet toys are imported from? China, nearly always. Now for the big question - who is doing the quality assurance on these toys to make sure that they are not putting our pets health at risk? So where is the problem, Matt? It’s not like animals put these toys in their mouths or suckle on them…oh wait; they do and do so rather often. Perhaps this explains why my own dog has become ill and vomiting off and on since purchasing a couple of new stuffed toys from PetSmart? Is this food for thought or instead, should we insist on buying pet toys from within our own borders so if foul play is afoot, we can allow the proper authorities to stop to any harmful elements that may have been placed into the toys based on sloppy quality control. I believe wholeheartedly that there are oodles of US companies that have the same problem as the ones in China. But at least when something like this happens here, it’s easier to boycott the offending group or better yet, bring in the authorities to hand the problem. |
Thank you so much for posting it Little Bit  :) This is so sad I will be making sure all are good here. |
Rocky's bowl said made in China i feel like throwing it out too |
I just checked Harleys toy from Petsmart, its one of the little chew toys made by PetStages....MADE IN CHINA!!!! Oh and he loves it too! He also has a fleece knotted rope from PetSmart but Im not sure where it was made. :( |
Guess I'll have to toss 'em all! The first thing mine do is chew off the tag, so I don't know where they were made! Anyone know where to get toys NOT made in China?? |
Well darn it- NONE of my toys still have the tags. |
Mine don't like the rubber or vinyl toys, so I just have to look at their stuffed toys. |
Is all this just recently-made toys? Lacy has a lot of stuffed toys but I haven't bought any new ones in like 6 months...most of her toys were bought way before then. |

i heard about this the other day on GMA!! |
Well the manufacturer web sites are no help. All of my dogs' toys are either Material Dog or Beanie Babies (Bow Wow Beanies) and the Nylabone Durables. There is no information online. Ridiculous! Guess I have to go to PetSmart and investigate. I'm guessing they will all turn out to be made in China. Are there recalls on dog toys yet? It seems like manufacturers would mention something on their web sites. Reassure us testing has been done or is being done, something... |

I doubt it! |
Okay, thanks to Yorkiesmiles, I now know that the Nylabone Durables are made in the USA. |
Gracie sick just got back from the vets, after reading about the air dog stuff, decided to take Gracie the jack russell in becuase she been just way out of it, took the ball with me, when vet saw the ball he just shook his head, he has several caese lately with large dogs being tried and just out of it like mine and all they have in common is tennis balls, mine was the first air dog though others wilson, penn is the only company that makes tennis ball in the U.S. any way he just gave me meds to come her stomach down, along with the labs, doesn't want to do anything else because they don't know what their dealing with for as toxins or dyes, afraid it make matter worst, anyway the ball he going to send off with the others, the only signs my have shown is there dead tried, vomiting every so often. hopely their body systems will work throgh all this, it will be days before the ball results come back. |
Oh Gosh I hope Gracie is okay. Smart thinking to act so fast. I just went to PetSmart and EVERYTHING is made in China. It's crazy! |
Okay, I can't ignore it any longer. I'm pulling Lucy's toys this evening. I have no idea how I'm going to keep a 7 month old puppy occupied with no ball to fetch or toys to play with. Nevermind during the day when she is home alone. This really sucks :( What is everyone doing in the meantime for toys? |
