I feel SO awful!!! I feel like the worst mom in the entire world...I was walking out of the family room and over the puppy gate and didn't realize Lola was right under my feet...I somehow slipped and stepped on her. Luckily I was able to hold myself some and not put my weight on her. She cried for what seemed like an eternity but probably about 20 secs. Once I calmed her down she didn't want to get out of my lap. She did walk around the room (for treats) b/c I wanted to make sure she didn't limp. I am SO scared...she seems okay but is in her crate ( I have one on the floor in the family room that she can go in and out of as she pleases) I am sure she was scared to death but I am worried about any injuries she may have gotten. I inspected her and moved arms/pushed areas and she didn't cry or seem bothered. If it helps, I think it was more of her middle section...I feel so guilty and sad right now. Has this happened to anyone else???? I honestly can't stop crying I feel so awful that I hurt my baby. Any suggestions about what I should do? The vet is closed until tomorrow and they don't seem to be that great about last minute appointments but there is an emergency vet if I had to? Maybe I am over reacting...any advice would be great. Thanks so much. |

Sending a BIG hug because i know MOST of us have been there! Poor Layla has been stepped on a few times and the sound she makes breaks my heart! but if your pup is eating and moving ok i'd say eveyrhitng is fine, just keep an eye on her over the next day or so.... she will QUICKLY learn to steer clear of all feet.... Layla took a while but she gets the idea now :) Don't feel bad.. you aren't a bad mom because if that was true we would all be bad moms .... so go easy on yourself! |

Ditto what Marcella said. It has happened to most of us. And you will probably do it again until you learn the yorkie shuffle. It took my husband a while but he has the hang of it now. |

Thank you so much! It's nice to hear that I am not the only one...it was the worst sound the the world hearing her cry like that and knowing I did it. She seems pretty normal now...eating, drinking and chewing on my shoes. Although...does keep going in and out of her crate which makes me sad but at least she feels like it is her safe place. These little ones are so small...until she is older I think I need to keep her bell during the day. Again, thank you...your kind words made me feel alot better. |

a bell is a great idea.... i know some on here have done that!. it is great that she feels she can go in her crate to be a safe place... Layla does that too :) but watch... tomorrow she will forget the whole thing!! hang in there mom :) |

Yes one time I figured I didnt have to strap Abby into her carrier b/c we were just walking across the street.... First thing she did was jump out and cry hysterically. she was shaking and everything. I felt horrible. And I did exactly what you did, I felt her legs, belly, everything, and she didnt seems to be in pain(after she stopped crying) . so now I just make sure she's strapped in. |

Hugs! I've done it too and thanked God that I didn't injure him. We attached little jingle bells to Gizmo's harness. They helped a lot. |

We have all done something similar. I do the Yorkie shuffle and they do learn to get out of the way most of the time. I hope your baby is ok |

Awwww you aren't a bad mom. It's happened to most of us. When Simon was a baby I was carrying him and he wiggled and fell out of my arms. I cried for hours, even though he was fine. I'm sure she will be ok and please know you aren't alone~ |

Please don't feel bad--this has happened to me too. Lulu and I were playing and she started running at top speed and ran head first into the bottom part of my leg and screamed. My leg hurt so bad that I can only imagine how her head felt! And the cutest thing is that I was holding my leg and trying to check out her head and she was trying to lick me because she knew I was hurt! Lulu did have a bump on her head for a day or two and every time I tried to pet her she winced for about a week. But she ate and drank ok and recovered fine. I think she finally forgot about it after a while. |

If you're a bad mom, then yep, I'm another "bad mom" and have a "bad dad" husband too. After two times, we mastered the "Yorkie Shuffle". We got a little cat bell for his collar too. Coby screamed like a banchee forever it seemed (like you, probably less than a minute). It goes straight through your heart, doesn't it? |

you are not the only one that has done that. I have done that also. You are not a bad Mom. |
|
I did the same thing too. They stay so close to you when you walk. I didnt mean to hurt her and didn't know I did till she let out a loud yelp. We are not bad mommy just lil one's that like to get into everything. |
