I love all your posts about school, dogs, kids, work, etc!!!! It proves to me that YES it can be done!!!! I am just starting back to school after a 25 year "break". I work full time and spoil and show my Yorks. At least I dont have kids or a hubby to take care of too!!!!!!!!LOL I cant believe it took this long to find something I wanted to do as a career. I was just thinking about this today! I got Simon November 2003 and I was in my last 2 semesters of grad school. Honestly, I couldn't have chosen a worse time to get a puppy. I was researching and writing my thesis and just absolutely swamped with school. I remember nights of staying up writing and working while Simon slept in my lap. I did most of my work at night after he went to sleep. I had my mom to help (thank goodness) and it all worked out.

I look back on that time in my life now and am still amazed at how I did it. Marci, Layla has such a wonderful life with you and your parents. It's just a schedule adjustment for both of you :)

I have no question that you give Layla all the attention in the world and if you ever need a break, send her here and that will help me get some of Simon's energy out too :)

I'm also a full-time student w/a puppy. I haven't found it difficult thus far..but it certainly helps that my dad and my bf help out. My bf and I got Tobi together at the beginning of summer, and I'm so happy that we made that decision. Tobi has adapted pretty well to being alone for a few hours...I'm sure he just sleeps the afternoon away! :p

Me and my fiance are both full time students, I am carrying 18 hours and he has 16, and he also plays football. It's a challenge sometimes. But since neither one of us can work right now, it helps. I am home more then he is. Actually the way our schedules are the longest they go without someone being home is 2 hours. Thats only 2 times a week. We do get 2 walks in a day. They do love the weekends, because they know they get to go to my parents (the farm) and play with the dogs/cats there. Luckily it's only about 45 min to their house. Sometimes I get so caught up in doing homework they'll walk over to where I keep their leashes and my shoes and sit there until I take them walking. But for the most part they either take naps beside me while I study, or play chase with each other. They are such good dogs, we couldn't be more blessed!!!

I'm a full time student and take all my classes 3 days a week, so i have the other 2 days off and weekends. First i walk the dogs then i do my hw when they are sleeping, or usually London is on my lap cause she will not let me do anything w/o being on my lap:rolleyes: Sophie will sometimes also be on my lap with London and Teddy will be playing with his ball or napping. I make sure to walk them before to take some energy out.

I go to school full time and work about 4 nights a week but whenever I'm home Jack is out running around and getting lots of attention. I also have a roommate who loves to play with him and both of our boyfriends play with him too. Sometimes if I know I'm going to be really busy I bring him to my parents house so they can spoil him.

Aww don't feel guilty - you are obviously a great mom to Layla! I felt this way when I did my student teaching and Teddy was just a puppy. I felt so guilty leaving him even though my mom was home and he was in great hands. I feel guilty now that I'm working too; especially when I went back to work 3 weeks ago after being home with him all summer. It's hard to come home and have him nip at my feet because he is mad at me for leaving, but I make up for it with lots of play, cuddle time, and walks. If I didn't work I wouldn't be able to provide him with all of the things I do, and he has my mom during the day to keep him company so that makes it a lot easier on me. It's the whole working mom vs. stay at home mom thing, but with our furbabies. Moms who work(go to school) love their kids just as much as those who don't. She knows you love her and you will handle everything - I promise!! even when it seems like you may not - we've all been there.
