What kind of food bowl would you reccomend? Since I will be getting a puppy soon, I read that glass or stainless steel is better then plastic and food should always be a fixed amount, so if you were me, would you rather get this: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...amily&keepsr=1 or this http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...amily&keepsr=1 what are the pros and cons of each?:confused: |

I think they are both the same link. I don't like the big feeders like that. There is no way of regulating how much your puppy is eating and food can go stale. I use a stainless steel bowl for Lacy (just a regular bowl). I would just put the amount you want to feed in the bowl. One of those things would probably be okay for water, but I just use a normal stainless steel bowl for that too, and I put fresh water in it every day |

That feeder is plastic also some dogs are allergic to the plastic. My BT kept having a reaction around his face and the first question the vet asked was what kind of bowl? I changed it and no more reaction. |
We use stainless steel and it's great! Love it!! We found a little stand with the stainless steel bowls on sale at Petsmart for like $9. If you look around, you can find some good deals. Make sure the bowls are removable though...much easier to wash and fill. :) |
We have two sets for our two girls. Both are stainless small bowls with a rubber ring around the bottom. We got them at Walmart for about $3 for each bowl. They are dishwasher safe, so they don't get a chance to get nasty before we run them through the dishwasher. I can't stand a nasty food dish. YUCK! |
I use to use plastic, but changed to stainless, because they were always chewing on the plastic. I'm very happy with the stainless bowls. |

I prefer ceramic. Plastic holds germs. IMO ceramic bowls also look better. |
I prefer stainless steel, and I wouldn't use an automatic feeder because it's important that you know your pup is eating enough. Stainless steel bowls are cleaner. |
We use ceramic bowls/dishes that are actually for people. I have a large one for their water, and then a small rice bowl for food for each, plus a small appetizer plate for wet/homemade food. They work well, and all are dishwasher safe. |
I guess I should have specified...I use stainless steel for water and for food, I feed them homecooked food at each meal in regular bowls. |
I use ceramic small bowls...one thing that we were told by our trainer is that we should use bowls so we can see how much water they are drinking to see when they might need to go out and go potty...so I like to be able to see how much he is drinking..so far he drinks about half of the bowl in a day...but I am sure the older he gets the more he will drink:) I would worry about him chewing on the plastic... |
